Damages of Turkish Incursion into Kurdistan
Region to be Recorded at UN
The Iraqi Parliament will discuss the report,
prepared by a committee, on the damages by the
recent Turkish incursion into Kurdistan region so
that the Iraqi parliament could ask compensation
from Turkey through the UN, Ismail Shukr, Iraqi
lawmaker has exclusively told PUKmedia on Thursday.
“The Iraqi budget has allocated an amount of money
called rescue fund to compensate damages of natural
disasters or foreign attacks to the country,
therefore, the Iraqi federal government will
participate in compensating damages of the recent
Turkish land offensive against Kurdistan region”, he
added. “The visit by the Iraqi parliament’s
delegation to the border areas of Kurdistan region
has political and economical connotations.
Politically it means that Iraq is a united country
and that Arabs are compatible with Kurds in all the
happenings. Economically it means that the report
will be recorded as a historical document at the
UN”, he sad as well. Recently a delegation of the
Iraqi parliament visited the border areas of
Kurdistan region with turkey in cooperation with the
KRG to guess the damages of those areas.
Barham Salih Meets EU Delegation
The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Barham Ahmed
Salih met a high ranking delegation from the EU,
headed by Mr. Makus Kornaro and the membership of
Mrs. Patricia Lombard and Mr. Paulo Martinis.
They exchanged views on consolidating bilateral
relations and economic cooperation between Iraq and
EU states.
Dr. Barham Ahmed Salih, stressed that the political
role of the EU should be more active particularly
that Iraq is passing through transitional period in
all aspects. He also asserted Iraq’s will to build
best relations with the International Community.
Both sides discussed the latest developments in the
region especially the recent Turkish Military
operations. Dr. Barham Ahmed Salih emphasized the
necessity of solving the PKK issue through political
and diplomatic means. He expressed the Iraqi
government and the KRG’s will to collaborate with
all sides related to this issue in order to solve it
in a way that preserve Iraq’s sovereignty. Mr. Elika
Osetalo the EU Ambassador in Baghdad and his deputy
Mr. Lolin Edward also attended the meeting.
KRG Discusses Oil Contracts
Nechirvan Barzani chaired Monday, a KRG meeting to
discuss the oil contracts that the KRG signed with
foreign oil companies. Mr. Omer Fatah, the Deputy of
KRG PM also attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the constitutional aspects of
the Oil-Gas Law in Kurdistan Region which coincides
with the constitution of Federal Iraq. They also
discussed the obstacles that hinder these contracts.
The KRG Minister of Natural Resources explained in
detail the bases of signing these contacts by the
designated committee in the KNA. He clarified the
articles of Kurdistan Region Oil-Gas Law regarding
contracting and digging out oil, he also mentioned
the names of all oil companies that the KRG Signed
contracts with. At the end of the meeting a number
of ministers expressed their view concerning this
issue.
KRG PM Receives Azad Jindiani
Nechirvan Barzani, the KRG Prime Minister, received
yesterday in Erbil Azad Jindiani, Head of the
Central Media Office in the Patriotic Union of
Kurdistan (PUK). They discussed the appropriate ways
of cooperation between the KRG and the media
institution, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani emphasized the
role of the Media in solving the problems through
transparency and checking the tasks and missions of
the media. On the other hand, Azad Jindiani said”
Working according to a planned mechanism by the KRG
and media institution will create a suitable media
atmosphere in Kurdistan.” Azad Jindiani also said
that media could play an important role in
cooperation with the KRG to point out the problems
and ways of solving them and to combat corruption as
well as activating the government institutions to
serve the citizens.
Sulaimaniyah Master Plan Submitted to Iraqi
Premier
On April 2nd, a large meeting of Kurdistan region
and Iraqi provinces was held in Baghdad .The Iraqi
Premier, Nouri al-Maliki and planning ministers of
the Iraqi federal government and the KRG attended
the meeting. The master plan of Sulaimani to the
next 5 years, after detailed discussion, submitted
to the Iraqi Premier and planning ministers of the
Iraqi federal government and the KRG for
implementation, deputy governor of Sulaimaniyah,
Jutiyar Nouri told PUKmedia on Tuesday. The master
plan project includes public services, health,
education, and other aspects, he added. He cited the
implementation of this project as a vital step
towards developing the city during the next 5 years.
