Halabja People to have 2 Peace Envoys at World
Peace Organization
A delegation from the World Peace Organization
Wednesday visited Halabja aiming to see conditions
of the families of Halabja chemical bombardment
victims closely.
During a meeting with officials of the city and the
families of Halabja martyrs, it has been decided
that 2 representatives of the families of Halabja
chemical bombardment victims will join the World
Peace Organization as envoys of peace to convoy the
sufferings of Halabja people to the world.
Iraqi Parliaments’ MPs Visit Damaged Areas in
Amedi
On Monday, a delegation from the Iraqi Council of
Representatives visited Amedi district to make a
report on the damages inflicted to the areas due to
the recent Turkish forces’ attacks against Kurdistan
region of Iraq.
The delegation, which consisted of Mithal al-Alusi,
Safia al-Suhiel, and Kamila Ibrahim, explored some
of the areas faced the Turkish aerial and land
attacks, the damaged bridges, and other damaged
schools and settlements.
The Amedi residents called on the delegation that
the Iraqi Council of Representatives to play its
role to close down the existent Turkish military
bases in Kurdistan region.
Choosing Kurdistan Region as a Model for
Religious Coexistence
Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani met a
high ranking delegation Sunday from International
Peace Messengers Union in Salah ElDin resort, Erbil
Province.
The delegation made a brief presentation of the
goals and programs of the Union, which includes
academic, political and society figures and owns
ambassadors in a large number of countries.
The Union has chosen Kurdistan Region as a model for
religious and ethnic coexistence. The Union also
introduced to President Barzani a certification for
his role in achieving peace and joint coexistence.
President Barzani appreciated this step, and
emphasized his support for the goals of the Union.
Erbil… Falah Mustafa and Ambassador of Norway
Discuss Bilateral Relations
Mr. Falah Mustafa the KRG in charge of Foreign
Affairs, met yesterday with Mrs. Matty Raven, Norway
Ambassador in Baghdad. They discussed bilateral
relations and ways of consolidating them between
Kurdistan Region and Norway. They also discussed the
recent situation in Iraq in general and Kurdistan
Region in Particular.
Mrs. Mattie Raven admired the current progress in
Kurdistan Region especially in security,
Construction and infrastructure fields.
On the other hand, Mr. Falah Mustafa explained the
KRG attitude towards bilateral relations between the
two sides. He said that Norway is one of the EU
developed states that can play an important role in
helping Kurdistan Region especially in the
reconstruction sector.
Both discussed recent events on the border area
between Kurdistan and Turkey, they emphasized that
the only way in solving border problems must be
through peaceful and diplomatic means.
Kurdistan Regional Government’s Cabinet Reduced
to 18 Ministries, Spokesman Says
Kusrat Rasul Ali, Deputy Secretary General of the
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Fadhel Merani,
the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Politburo
Secretary, chaired a meeting on Sunday of both
Politburos of PUK and KDP in Dukan Resort,
Sulaimaniyah Province.
During the meeting it has been decided that the new
cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government will be
reduced to 18 ministries and 3 other ministries for
the region.
Each of the Kurdistan region political parties as
well as the Assyrians, the Chaldeans and the
Turkmens will have ministries. Rest of the
ministries will be distributed between the PUK and
the KDP, the Official Spokesman of the PUK
Politburo, Mr. Mala Bakhtiyar indicated.
He also pointed out another topic of the meeting was
devoted to the latest political developments in
Kurdistan region ,Iraq and the area, saying both
politburos have expressed their happiness about the
Turkish troop withdrawal from the Kurdistan region.
Regarding the cancelation of the Iranian Presidents
visit to the Kurdistan region, the official
spokesman of the PUK politburo said “this issue is
irrelevant to the Kurdistan Regional Government and
the visit was cancelled by the Iranian government.”
State-Run Women’s Shelter to be Established in
Sulaimaniyah
Following increasing violence against women and the
government’s attention to this concern, the
Sulaimaniyah Governance Council decided to subsidize
one billion ID to establish a shelter for those
women face violations.
“For the first time a state-run shelter is
established in the region to harbor those women
violated against,” the Director of Woman Affairs
Committee in the council Kner Abdulla told PUKmedia.
