Iran was Iraqi Kurds’ only friend at hard
times

Sanandaj, Iranian Kurdistan, -- Iraqi
President Jalal Talabani's special representative
said here Monday Iran was and still is Iraqi
nation's only real friend and supporter during hard
times.
Abdullah Haji Saeed speaking at a
scientific-cultural gathering titled 'Campaign
against use of chemical weapons', "The Islamic
Republic of Iran has also been a staunch supporter
of the Iraqi Kurds under all circumstances."
He appreciated the Iranian officials and nation for
their support for the oppressed Iraqi nation,
adding, "The Iraqi Kurds have gone through lots of
hardships and tough eras, always having counted on
full support of the Iranian nation and Governments."
Haji Saeed added, "The chemical bombardment of
Halabja was one of the worst human disasters of the
past few decades that marked the peak of lots of
criminal acts committed by the Ba'th regime of
Saddam and the Iranian brethren helped us
wholeheartedly to endure the sad aftermaths of that
catastrophe."
The representative of the Iraqi President said,
"Entire world, including regional countries, closed
their eyes over that disastrous event,www.ekurd.net
but the Islamic Republic
of Iran bravely and warmly rushed to assist their
religious brethren in faith in Iraqi Kurdistan." He
referred to lots of commonalities between the
Iranian and Iraqi Kurds, adding, "Shared language,
religion, and culture have become strong factors
leading to increasing both nations' enthusiasm to
further strengthen comprehensive ties and
interchanges in various fields."
The Iraqi official announced Iraqi Kurdistan's
readiness to expand comprehensive ties with the
Islamic Republic of Iran, arguing, "The gates of
Kurdistan of Iraq would remain open towards Iran for
good and we welcome the presence of our Iranian
brethren there."
He added, "Today, under such conditions that the
tough days for the Iraqi nation are over, the Iraqi
nation would never forget the wholehearted kindness
and valuable assistance rendered by the Iranian
nation and officials."
Haji Saeed said, "The Ba'thi regime of Saddam
committed lots of horrendous crimes, both against
the Iranian, and against the Iraqi nations, but
relying on grace of God, that regime is ousted now."
He further stressed the hardships that both nations'
tolerated during Saddam's era, saying,www.ekurd.net
"Religion, nationality
and race did not really matter for the ousted Ba'thi
regime of Saddam, since they were mainly determined
to root out Islam and to kill as many Muslims as
possible."
Referring to the anniversary of chemical bombardment
of Halabja and Sardasht, the special representative
of President Talabani said, "We fell obliged to let
the world hear the voice of the oppressed in those
sad incidents."
He said, "Sponsoring such commemoration services in
Iran is a sign of the deep feelings of friendship
and brotherhood between the Islamic Republic of Iran
and the Iraqi Kurds."
The day long commemoration conference, attended by a
large number of Iranian and Iraqi Kurdistan
officials, was held at Farvardin Hall of Sanandaj's
Fajr Cultural Complex.
