Gulf Keystone starts seismic work in Kurdistan

DUHOK, Kurdistan region 'Iraq', -- Gulf
Keystone Petroleum, the oil & gas explorer, has
reported that seismic survey work had begun on its
recent licence wins in Iraq's Kurdistan region.
Arrakis Geodynamics, a US-based upstream services
company, has been contracted to acquire 2D seismic
in the Shaikan Block of Kurdistan. Arrakis will work
closely with Polaris Explorer to acquire the data. |

The Shaikan Block is situated near the city of
Duhok, approximately 85km north-west of Erbil and
covers an area of 283 sq km.
Todd Kozel, chairman and chief executive of Gulf
Keystone Petroleum, said: “To start seismic
acquisition within just four months of being awarded
licences by the Kurdistan Regional Government
clearly illustrates the fast pace with which we are
progressing our work programme.”
Gulf Keystone Petroleum is working in partnership
with Kalegran Ltd, a subsidiary of MOL Hungarian Oil
and Gas Public Limited Company (MOL) and Texas
Keystone Inc.
