French FM Bernard Kouchner to visit
Kurdistan Region

Erbil-Hewler, Kurdistan region 'Iraq' --
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner is
scheduled to make a fresh trip to Iraq's largely
autonomous Kurdistan Region in the upcoming period,www.ekurd.net

of Foreign Relations in Kurdistan region Falah
Mustafa Bakir said on Saturday.
Kouchner's visit aim to buttress bilateral
relations, as the French official is expected to
meet with the Region's President Massoud Barzani and
other high profile officials of the region, Bakir
told reporters.
Should the visit take place, it would be the second
for Kouchner since August 2007. |

France already has an embassy in Baghdad and
announced last year that it would open a consulate
in Erbil, the Iraqi Kurdistan's capital.
Bakir noted that preparations to inaugurate the
consulate were "underway", with the likelihood of
Kouchner attending the ceremony.
