Iraqi President Jalal Talabani praises role of S.Korea in Kurdistan  12.3.2008

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi President Jalal Talabani asserted on Tuesday the necessity of developing relations between Iraq and South Korea.

The president hailed efforts exerted by South Korea in Iraq's Kurdistan region in reconstruction fields,
www.ekurd.net providing people of Kurdistan with public services and training employees as well as its support to the Iraqi political process. Talabani's office said in a statement.

Talabani, met with a delegation from a South Korean company in Erbil, the Iraqi Kurdistan's capital, on Tuesday.

"Talabani held a meeting with an economic delegation from S.Korea, during which he reiterated his assertion on the importance of developing relations between the two countries," the statement added.

"The delegation reviewed all plans and projects to be implemented by S.Korean companies in the region in various domains," it said.

On their part, the delegation briefed President Talabani on their proposed projects in Kurdistan region in the aspects of power, and others appreciating president Talabani’s support to promoting bilateral ties between Iraq and S Korea.
