UK: Kurd Stars FC, one of the greatest
football teams

LONDON, UK,-- When many people think of
the Kurds in Iraqi Kurdistan, they are reminded of
the horrors that the Saddam Hussein government let
loose on them. Others are reminded of Kurdistan
region (the Kurdish areas of Iraq) and the
cross-border raids within the areas. The time has
come to talk about the Kurds in a different context,
viz, sports, especially football (soccer).
The Kurd Stars FC is the only Kurdish club to
officially belong to the London FA League. Actually,
the Kurd Stars FC belongs to the West End,www.ekurd.net

Premier Division. In the present 2007-08 season, as
of January 15, 2008, there were four victories,
three drawn games and seven losses with 22 goals
for, 22 goals against and a seven-point difference.

The Kurd Stars FC was founded in September 2005 and
its chairman is Sarkhell Sirwan Nawroly. Since its
beginning in September 2005, the Kurd Stars FC
received its first kit from Adnan Shaswar,www.ekurd.net
was featured on the
website of the English Football Association (FA.com),
interviewed by the multi-talented and multi-faceted
journalist Namiq Rafiq (Khoshnow) of Kurdistan
Satellite Channel and featured in Kurdistan’s
prestigious newspaper, Xebat.
In addition to raising awareness about Kurdish
football, they have helped clubs in the Kurdish
areas of Iraq form their own football teams and sent
sports experts and coaches to Iraqi Kurdistan to
help train future players. After impressive gains,
further progress was made when Sarkhell Nawroly met
with Safin Kanabi (head of Kurdistan FA, in
Kurdistan, Iraq) with the intention of creating and
expanding contacts between Europe and Kurdistan.
It is hoped, eventually, the Kurd Stars FC will be
able to compete in the Olympics and the FIFA World
Cup. While this happens, the fame of Kurd Stars FC
is set to spread throughout the world.
I personally hope (and have written an E-mail letter
as well, for the purpose) that the Kurd Stars FC
would come to Miami, Florida and play the Miami FC
in Tropical Park (a place in Miami, Florida where
the Miami FC have their home).
