Ahmadinejad to Visit Kurdistan
PUK’s Kurdistani Nwe newspaper announced Wednesday
that the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is
going to visit Kurdistan Region during his expected
to visit Iraq. The newspaper stated from an official
source, without mentioning his name, that “the
Iranian president is going to hold meetings with the
Kurdistani leaderships.”
Turkish Warplanes Permeate Kurdistan Region
Airspace
A private source, on condition of anonymity, told
PUKmedia website “Turkish warplanes have flied in
the airspace of Nero Bala and Rican in Kani Masi
county, and Amedi district in Duhok Province. The
planes have entered Kurdistan airspace since 12:00pm
Tuesday, and still going on till this moment.” It’s
worth mentioning that the Turkish warplanes and
artillery have shelled several border villages in
Iraq’s Kurdistan Region under the pretext of
following PKK elements.
Raising the New Iraqi Flag on Sulaimaniyah
Governorate Headquarter
Sulaimaniyah Province has raised on Tuesday the new
Iraqi flag in the attendance of a number of
officials, Media and press reporters. The new flag
is going to be raised on all the official and
government buildings in Sulaimaniyah province after
it has been raised in Erbil.
In a press release, Sulaimaniyah Governor Deputy
Jotyar Nuri said “the new Iraqi flag is the flag of
all Iraqis. Kurdistan Region flag is going to be
raised side by side with the Iraqi flag. We have
received instructions from Kurdistan National
Assembly to raise the new flag on all official
buildings of Kurdistan Region in Sulaimaniyah
Province.” “Today, we celebrate to raise the new
flag on the Province building and all the official
buildings in Sulaimaniyah. Our relation with the
Federal Government was, still and will continue to
be strong before or after raising the new flag”, he
added.
KRG Minister of Environment Participates in an
International Conference
Dara Mohammed Amin, KRG minister of Environment said
that he is going to participate in the International
Conference of Environment under the supervision of
U.N. Committee for Environment, where he is going to
deliver a full report on the Region’s environment.
The conference will begin tomorrow in Monaco. In a
press statement, the minister added that this annual
conference is going to discuss the major problems of
environment in the world by professionals and find
the appropriate solutions for them.
Steam Power Plant to be Established in Kurdistan
Region
On Tuesday the KRG Ministry of Electricity has
announced during a press release that it has
submitted several power supply projects to the
Japanese government. The projects, including a steam
power plant which costs $ 170 million, are in the
frame work of the proportion of Kurdistan region in
the Japanese loans to Iraq.
On February 13th, the Iraqi Presidency Council
ratified the project of promoting Kurdistan region
electricity sector .The project will be carried out
from the Japanese government’s loans to Iraq which
is $3.5 billion.
Kurdistan region gets $600 million from the laons.
$300 million have been allocated to electricity
sector while the rest have been allocated to water
projects, the spokesman of KRG Ministry of
Electricity said.
KRG Finance Ministry: Delivered Kurdistan Region
Budget is less than estimated
The KRG deputy economic and finance minister Dilshad
Othman announced that after granting 17 percent of
Iraq budget to Kurdistan region, only $ 6.4 billion
was sent to Kurdistan for 2008. As the ministry
estimated, $ 7.7 billion is supposed to be sent to
Kurdistan region based upon the total budget of Iraq
for 2008.
