Insulin Injections banned in Kurdistan Region
The KRG Ministry of Health announced that they got
information from Kirkuk Police Directorate that the
terrorists are intending to import insulin –mixed
with HIV virus injections to Iraq and Kurdistan
Region.
On those injections there are the writing (made in
Iran ) for that purpose all the health clinics in
Kurdistan region were informed not to use those
injections. In Soran distinct near Iran, importing,
exporting and selling those kinds of injections,
which are supposed of containing HIV viruses, have
been banned.
South Sulaimaniyah Power Substation Opens
A new U.S.-funded substation will help improve the
distribution of electricity in the southern
neighborhoods of Sulaimaniyah city and surrounding
villages. Built at a cost of $28 million, the 132 KW
South Sulaimaniyah substation was officially
inaugurated today by Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)
Deputy Prime Minister Omar Fattah, KRG Minister of
Electricity Abdul Rahman Siwaily, Sulaimaniyah
Governor Dana Majid, U.S. Regional Coordinator Jess
Baily, and Charles Riley of the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers. The KRG Ministry of Electricity has taken
control of the facility as the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers completes final reviews and trains local
staff. In his remarks, Jess Baily described the
power station as “a significant step to a reliable
power supply for homes and businesses.”
The substation, and others that have been
constructed with Iraq Relief and Reconstruction
Funds (IRRF), help to link the region to the
national electricity grid. The Iraq Relief and
Reconstruction Fund was established by the U.S.
Congress to rebuild Iraq's infrastructure, damaged
from years of neglect, sanctions, and war. The
Sulaimaniyah Resident Office of the Army Corps of
Engineers has completed 93 projects worth over $100
million and has another fifteen projects worth over
$70 million underway or in the planning stages.
Al-Hashimi: We have Understanding Memo with Kurds
Dr. Tariq al-Hashimi, the Iraqi Vice President,
asserted that the agreement with the Kurds is an
understanding memo, not a coalition, in order
coordinate their attitudes towards various political
and national issues. We are seeking to sign more
understanding memos with the other political groups.
“The stillness of the Political Process and the
National Reconciliation Project is due to the lack
of confidence building measures among the different
groups, signing this memo was essential to establish
trust and this what we called for in the National
Contract Project. Each day precious blood is shed in
Diyala and Nineveh Provinces, no question that this
understanding memo will stop this bleeding” al-Hashimi
added.
Opening Headquarter of Kurdistan Region Terror
Victims Organization in Erbil
In the fourth anniversary of the 1st February
catastrophe, George Mansour the KRG Minister of
Civil Society, opened the headquarter of Kurdistan
Region Terror Victims Organization in Erbil City.
The event was attended by a number of KRG ministers,
members in KNA and the representatives of the
concerned Civil Society Organizations. The
administrative head of the Organization, explained
the organization’s programs which aim to serve and
qualify terror victims and to spread human rights
culture and the Civil Society Concepts. Mr. George
Mansur asserted the deep grief of the Kurdish People
caused by this criminal operation which targeted the
PUK and KDP headquarters in Erbil and resulted in
more than 250 casualties. He also emphasized that
the efforts of KRG and Civil Society Foundations are
needed in order to establish a civilized Society
based on tolerance and non-violence.
Erbil…France to Open Consulate Next Week
Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region will have
French Consulate next week, according to the French
Le Figaro news paper. The decision of the consulate
opening was announced during President Jalal
Talabani’s visit to Paris in November, 2006.
Internal reasons concerning the French Elections,
made the former President Jacues Chirac to postpone
sending French Diplomats to Iraq. Frederick Tisso,
Known as French Doctor will be the head of the
consulate. He is one of the defenders of Kurdish
rights; he speaks Kurdish language and is acquainted
with Kurdistan Mountains due to his organizing the
transportation of the Kurdish people who were
fleeing from Saddam’s Regime aggression in 1989.
It’s worth mentioning that Peshmerga Forces will
hold the responsibility for Mr. Tasso’s safety.
2 Dutch Parties Demand Building Anfal Victims
Monument in Hague
The People's Party for Freedom and Democracy VVD and
the Dutch Socialist SP parties, demanded to build a
monument for the victims of Saddam Husain’s Genocide
operations known as al-Anfal, which resulted in
killing more than 182 thousand Kurdish citizen 20
years ago. The two Dutch parties asked to define the
mass termination against the Kurdish People as the
Genocide. The International community should take
the required measures about this. After their
participation in the international conference on
Genocide against Kurds which was held in Erbil last
month, Fred Teven the MP in the Dutch Parliament
from the VVD party and Harry Van the MP from the SP
party, suggested that the Hague , where the
International Crime Court locates, is the suitable
place to build this Monument.
Mala Bakhtiyar: WE Determined to Solve All Youth
Problems
Sulaimaniyah Youth and Student, held a celebration
on occasion of accepting Kurdistani Youth Freedom
Organization and Kurdistani Youth Organization as
memberships in the Socialism Organization. Mr. Mala
Bakhtiyar, the active member in the PUK Politburo
has supervised the celebration and said “Certainly,
the International Universal Socialism Conferences
are the most important in the world, there is no
substitution for them, whether to the Political
Parties or the Democratic Organizations. Holding
this Conference and accepting Kurdistani Youth
Freedom Organization and Kurdistani Youth
Organization as memberships in the Socialism
Organization is a victory to the Democracy will
which represented by the Kurdish People in Iraq’s
Kurdistan. I think, the acceptance of these two
Organizations as memberships will reflect an obvious
Democratic Development and serve Student movement
generally in Iraq and particularly in Kurdistan.” A
bout some obstacles which may hinder the Youth and
Student work, Mala Bakhtiyar said “The Problems that
Youth face normal things in all over the world which
tries every new thing for the sake of freedom and
progress, only 15 years has passed on our people
Democratic Experience, which is too short period
regarding the duties we carry on to success of
Democracy in this country.”
