" Tahseen Muhammad
said during an Erbil-based press conference on
Monday.
"We have earlier made the same demands and the
regional government promised to meet them, but
nothing happened," Muhammad indicated.
Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of the association,
Sulayman Khaled Zaki, called on the Kurdistan
Regional Government (KRG) to give the association
the green light to cooperate with the Iraqi
Prisoners Association in an attempt to improve the
conditions of political prisoners in the region.
Many political prisoners in the region have not been
appointed in governmental positions, while other
disabled prisoners were deprived of assistance, Zaki
said.
"We will submit a memorandum of our demands to the
region's presidency, government and parliament,"
Zaki added.
Established in Iraq's Kurdistan in 1992, the
association includes representatives of most
political parties in the region.
Erbil (Hewler) is the capital of Kurdistan region.
