arrives in Kuwait

Erbil-Hewler, Kurdistan Region 'Iraq',--
Iraqi Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani arrived in
Kuwait on Tuesday afternoon for a two-day official
visit, according to the Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA).
"Barzani was received by a large number of Kuwaiti
officials," KUNA said.
Barzani's press secretary Faisal Al-Dabbagh told
KUNA the visit is upon an official invitation by
Kuwait.
Earlier on Tuesday a Kurdish official said President
Barzani was scheduled to leave for Kuwait for a
visit to discuss economic and trade ties and means
to push them forward. |

"President Barzani is
leading a political delegation and the chief of the
region's investment agency, Hirsh Muharram. Barzani
is expected to meet today evening with Emir of
Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah,"
Falah Mustafa, the official in charge of foreign
relations in the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region,
said.
Kurdistan region president Massoud Barzani
is to start an official visit to Kuwait Tuesday,
during which his talks are to focus on boosting
Kuwaiti investments in Kurdistan.
The aim is to boost relations and to encourage
investment by Kuwaiti and Gulf investors.
The official was in Kuwait in mid 2006 and had back
then stressed relations with Kuwait were strong and
based on mutual respect.

Barzani visits Kuwait on
May 12, 2006,
on a two-day visit to the country. On the nature of relations between the two people,
Barzani said"The people of Kurdistan and of Kuwait
have sipped from the same cup of suffering on the
hands of the former regime and so they understand
best each other's sentiments.
Barzani remarked Kuwaitis showed all due
recognition of Kurdistan
and a realization the stable region is very feasible
as gateway for reconstruction of the Iraqi state as
a whole.
