Kurdish media official on Thursday said the regional
Kurdistan’s parliament would hold an extraordinary
session to raise the new Iraqi flag over the region
for the first time since the ouster of the former
regime in 2003.
“The regional parliament will cut its winter
vacation and hold an extraordinary session next
Sunday to raise the new flag in the presence of the
representatives of the regional government,www.ekurd.net

Jouhar pointed out “the
parliament members would discuss the relation
between the region's and the federal governments
asking Kurdistan prime minister and concerned
ministers about the pending issues between Baghdad
and Erbil”.
Earlier, Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh
urged Kurdistan regional government to abide by the
commitment of raising the new flag, endorsed by the
parliament and presidential board, over all the
region areas.
Meanwhile, Kurdish key MP Mahamoud Othman said “the
Kurdish officials' statement about flying the new
flag was mere routine procedures”.
He added "the new flag would be raised in the next
two days over all the region’s areas”.
In 2006 September, Kurdistan President Massoud
Barzani
ordered lowering the old Iraqi
flag citing "grave atrocities and
ethnic cleansing crimes committed under such a flag
by the former regime of Saddam Hussein".s
