British trade delegation in
Kurdistan soon
Sulaimaniyah: A delegation comprising
representatives of a group of British companies will
arrive in Iraq’s Kurdistan region in late November
in an attempt to develop trade relations with their
counterparts in the region, a local official said on
Wednesday.
“The visit is the first of its kind by British
companies’ representatives to the region,” the
deputy chairman of the Chamber of Industry and
Commerce in Sulaimaniyah, Sirwan Mohammed Mahmoud,
told VOI.
The delegation, which includes 18 representatives of
companies working in the fields of construction,
foodstuffs, electronics, and others, is expected to
meet with state officials and businessmen form Erbil
and Sulaimaniyah, Mahmoud noted.
Kurdish town prepares for
mourning Saddam regime’s victims
Sulaimaniyah: A local official of a Kurdish town on
Tuesday announced preparations were underway for the
transfer ceremonies of corpses killed in the 1980’s
by the former regime of Saddam Hussein.
“Kallar local authorities in coordination with the
Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Campaign Victims
allocated a 100 donums plot as cemetery in Razgari
area of Kallar district, 140 km south-west of
Sulaimaniyah,” a local official told VOI.
The victims were arrested by the former regime of
Saddam Hussein in the 1980s. They were executed and
buried in a mass grave in Najaf.
A symbolic monument and an art exhibition
commemorating the victims would be carried out in a
project implemented by Kurdistan’s regional Ministry
of Human Rights.
Anfal was an anti-Kurdish campaign led by the former
regime between 1986 and 1989 and involved a series
of military campaigns against the Kurdish Peshmerga
fighters as well as the mostly Kurdish civilian
population of southern Kurdistan.
Independent sources estimate there were more than
182,000 deaths in the campaign,www.ekurd.net

3 Kurdish players
participate in World Bodybuilding Championship in
Bahrain
Three of Kurdistan Bodybuilding champions will
participate within the Iraqi team in the World Body
Building Championship which will be held in Bahrain
from November 2 to 7 at the Bahrain International
Exhibition Centre.
The Iraqi team players are: Sardar Ismail 85kg and
Ahmed Majeed above 100kg from Erbil, Najim al-Den
Abdullah 65kg from Sulaimani,www.ekurd.net
Firas Jirjees 90kg and
Sultan Attiya 60kg from Baghdad.
In a statement to PUKmedia website, Sardar Ismail
said that they are ready for this champion and Asia
champion as well. He added that he is optimistic and
hopes to achieve a good result that fits Iraq’s
reputation in this game.
Iranian delegation arrives
in Sulaimani on commercial agreements
Kermanshah governor Ghafor Majeedi and a high
Iranian delegation arrived in Sulaimaniyah
Wednesday. Majeedi and the delegation were received
by the Governor of Sulaimani Dana Ahmed Majeed at
the province headquarter.
The visit came as a response to an invitation by Mr.
Majeed in order to enhance the relations between
Kermanshah and Sulaimaniyah .
“Ways of consolidating the commercial ties will be
discussed. It’s decided to sign a number of
agreements regarding that issue”, Dana Ahmed Majeed
said in a press statement.
