PKK promise response to Turkish strike on Kurdistan  4.1.2008

New Years Message from the People Defense Forces of Kurdistan (HPG).

January 4, 2008

2008 is the year of resistance.

With the end of a year full of successful struggle and tireless efforts and the beginning of a new new year, we congratulate our leader, our people and all the Turkey's Kurdish freedom (PKK) fighters in the world remembering our martyrs and confirming our continuation of their struggle and resistance.

We salute the struggle and the patience of our heroic people who have demonstrated year after year their honorable national awareness and struggle for liberation.

With the entry of 2008 completed, States dominate Kurdistan, led by the Turkish State and supported by the international forces exploited this agreement against the Kurdish people and the Kurdish national liberation movement led by the PKK,
www.ekurd.net reflect Turkey’s determination to pursue a policy of denial and liquidation of every thing Kurdish.

Turkey, Syria, Iran and some other reactionary forces in the region apply all forms of oppression, coercion and conspiracy to break the will of our people and our fighters resistance.

They use the darkest oppression forms of arrests, torture and control in addition to direct military operations in the Kurdish areas against the Turkey's Kurdish PKK fighters.

It is very clear that this conspiratorial agreement against the Kurdish National liberation movement started a new trend for the new year.
The year 2007, is a years full of sacrifices and great efforts to resolve the Kurdish issue by political and democracy means.

This manifested concretely in the positions of the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan imprisoned in (Imrali) and isolated in one cell room, as well as our movement repeated calls for dialogue to resolve the problem in democratic ways away from violence.

Yet the 2007 year was a year of victory in the approach of the resistance, the resistance of the Kurdish fighters despite fierce attacks and military operations of the Turkish army.

They followed a legitimate defense approach in responding to the Turkish campaigns and implemented successful military operations, on the other hand the Kurdish people showed their determination and support of the PKK policies, despite the pressure brought upon them.

In this sense the 2007 year was a year of resistance and liberation struggle embodied in Ormar, Kabar and the resistance of Katoa Jirga and Kalabani.

Despite all the democracy and political good work to fined a peaceful solution, the enemies of the Kurdish people have expressed their intention to pursue the policy of denial, annihilation and forced assimilation.

In response to these oppressive policies, the Kurdish side continues to insist on resistance and struggle.

The 2008 will be a year resistance and retaliation against the Turkish army attacks and the policies of enemy states of the Kurdish people.

The Kurdish fighters will respond to the vicious attacks of the Turkish army in northern Kurdistan ( Kurdish southern-Turkey) and its military operations in southern Kurdistan (Iraqi Kurdistan region),
www.ekurd.net after it started its air raids on Iraqi Kurdistan with the support of the United States and other international powers and with cooperation of the regional reactionary powers.

We enter the 2008 year aware that it will be a year of difficult tasks and struggle, confident that the liberation movement, the Kurdish people and the fighters of the People Defense Forces of Kurdistan will succeed in this historical test.

Victory, freedom and to resolve the just Kurdish issue are fruits of these struggles.

* Since 1984 the PKK took up arms for self-rule in the country's mainly Kurdish southeast of Turkey. A large Turkey's Kurdish community openly sympathise with the Kurdish PKK for a Kurdish homeland in the country's mainly Kurdish southeast of Turkey.

The PKK demanded Turkey's recognition of the Kurds' identity in its constitution and of their language as a native language along with Turkish in the country's Kurdish areas, the party also demanded an end to ethnic discrimination in Turkish laws and constitution against Kurds, granting them full political freedoms.

** Kurds are not recognized as an official minority in Turkey and are denied rights granted to other minority groups. Under EU pressure, Turkey recently granted Kurds limited rights for broadcasts and education in the Kurdish language, but critics say the measures do not go far enough.

The use of the term "Kurdistan" is vigorously rejected due to its alleged political implications by the Republic of Turkey, which does not recognize the existence of a "Turkish Kurdistan" Southeast Turkey.

Others estimate over 40 million Kurds live in Big Kurdistan (Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Armenia), which covers an area as big as France, about half of all Kurds which estimate to 20 million live in Turkey.

Turkey is home to over 25 million ethnic Kurds, a large Turkey's Kurdish community openly sympathise with the Kurdish PKK for a Kurdish homeland in the country's mainly Kurdish southeast of Turkey.

Before August 2002, the Turkish government placed severe restrictions on the use of Kurdish language, prohibiting the language in education and broadcast media. The Kurdish alphabet is still not recognized in Turkey, and use of the Kurdish letters X, W, Q which do not exist in the Turkish alphabet has led to judicial persecution in 2000 and 2003
