Kurdistan Parties Supreme Council and the
Region’s Presidency Hold Meetings
Under supervising of Kurdistan Region President
Massoud Barzani and in the presence of his deputy
Kosrat Rasol Ali, the Kurdistan Parties Supreme
Council held a meeting in Salah El-Din resort.
The meeting discussed several issues including the
visit of American Secretary of State Condoleezza
Rice to Iraq and her meeting with Presidents
Talabani and Barzani and other officials, and the
visit of President Bush to the Middle East and
Arabian Gulf countries.
In an exclusive statement to our website, Mr. Qadir
Aziz said “the meeting discussed the Project of
President Talabani to develop al-Maliki’s
government, and the meeting evaluated the project
positively. Discussions also were made about the
changes of the Iraqi flag to be used temporarily for
one year, and the council accepted it.”
“The final point of the meeting was about the visit
of the council delegation to Syria soon. The purpose
of this visit is to explain the Region’s policies
and developing the bilateral relations”, Aziz added.
On the other part, Kurdistan’s Region Presidency
held its meeting in the presence of Kurdistan Region
President Massoud Barzani, his deputy Kosrat Rasol
Ali, Kurdistan Region PM Nechirvan Barzani, deputy
PM Omar Fatah,Kurdistan National Assembly spokesman
Adnan Mufti, deputy spokesman Kamal Kirkuki and
Kurdistan Presidency Diwan Fuad Hussein.
The meeting discussed the visit of the Region’s
President to Baghdad and his meeting with President
Talabani, his deputies and the American Secretary of
State Condoleezza Rice. Discussions also were made
about developing the Iraqi government, the Article
140 committee works and the policy of Kurdistan
Government in the coming period.
Erbil People Bid Farewell Anfal Victims
The people of Erbil city, a number of Kurdistan
National Assembly members, Kurdistan Region
ministers and officials from
the parties and government bided farewell the
victims of Anfal operations on Thursday.
It’s worth mentioning that official ceremonies were
made in Jan. 14th in the presence of Kurdistan
Region President Massoud Barzani and the
Governmental officials in the Region.
The martyrs’ convoy was headed to Dukan District to
bury the bodies there. These bodies were found in
mass graves in al-Hadhar, Mosul and al-Samawa
cities.
Final Date to Receive Emigrants and Displaced
People Forms
The Supreme Committee of Implementing Article 140
issued an official letter signed by Raed Fahmi, head
of the Committee, decided that February 28 is the
final date to receive the emigrants and displaced
People Forms in its offices at Kirkuk, Khanakeen and
Sinjar.
It’s worth mentioning that the Supreme Committee
distributed special forms in the disputed areas for
the emigrated and displaced families who desires to
return to their original areas as a step in
implementing the above mentioned Article.
Raed Fahmi Asserts the Possibility of Making a
Referendum on Article 140
Raed Fahmi, the head of Article 140 Committee of the
Iraqi Constitution concerning normalization in
Kirkuk Province and other disputed areas, said that
the Committee discussed in its meeting on Thursday a
number of reports concerning the above mentioned
Article.
The Committee will take practical steps to implement
Article 140 and solve the issue of immigrants to
Kirkuk and the displaced people, during the
postponed period which is 6 months, Raed Fahmi
added.
The Committee asked the Prime Ministry to demand
officially The Independent Electoral Commission of
Iraq to take practical steps to carry out the
referendum on Article 140 in Kirkuk, Raed Fahmi
clarified.
It’s worth mentioning that Article 140 was supposed
to be implemented in December31, 2007, at the
suggestion of the UN and the consent of the Iraqi
Political Sides it was postponed for another 6
months.
