Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan Region 'Iraq', --
Scores of Sulaimaniyah University students on
Tuesday staged a rally protesting bad services in
the dormitories.
"Dozens of Sulaimaniyah University students staged
peaceful demonstrations to protest against the bad
services in dormitories, which witnessed a power and
water cut for more than a week," Rond Ahmed,www.ekurd.net
one of the protestors
said..
"How can we study without providing basic services,
like water," another demonstrator wondered.
200 students gathered in front of the main street
leading to the university campus, denying access to
professors, teachers, employees and cars.
Dr. Ali Said, Sulaimaniyah University president,
said "working and studying at the university has
stopped for a week due to the demonstrations."
Last week, Sulaimaniyah city saw similar
demonstrations staged by students calling for
improving services in the university and its
dormitories.
