Kurdistan Parliament Calls for 4 KRG Ministers
Kurdistan Parliament has decide to call for number
of KRG ministers in its 4th normal session today,
because of the out breaking of Cholera disease in
some of Kurdistan cities and finding expired foods
in the markets.
Tariq Jawher, Media councilor in Kurdistan
Parliament said that the ministers who will be
called for today’s session are ministers of Health,
Trade, Municipality, and Environment.
US Congress Delegation Visits Erbil
A senior US Congress Delegation visited Erbil, the
capital city of Iraqi Kurdistan region, today after
they visited president Talabani in Baghdad
yesterday. The delegation consisted from some US
senators, including Olompya Snow, Max Boukos, Ben
Nelson and Ken Salazar.
The delegation visited some markets in Erbil,
including a store which has been opened through a
program of USAID organization in which it lends
money to the civilians for carrying out their
personal projects.
Ashraf Khadi: UN Supports Implementation of
Article 140
During his visit Ashraf Khadi, the former
representative of UN general secretary in Iraq, held
a seminar, in the public library of Sulaimaniyah in
which a number of intellectuals were attended, about
the situation in Iraq, Kurdistan, artiicle140, and
human rights situation in Iraq.
At the first part of his seminar, Ashraf Khadi shed
light on the current situation of Iraq, indicating
and appreciating the significance role of Kurdistan
region in many aspects, including democracy, and
promoting human rights. Then he presented a brief
account of his work as the former representative of
UN general secretary in Iraq, and said: “It is a
great honor for me that I worked in Iraq and made
many friends. I am very pleased with the
achievements of Kurdistan region. I am also glad
with my working with president Talabani, president
Barzani, Kosrat Rasul Ali and Dr. Barham Ahmed
Salih.
Regarding the stand of UN on Implementation of
Article 140, Ashraf Khadi said: “The UN tries to
support the implementation of this constitutional
article. UN decision number 1970 asked us to deal
with all the Iraqi unsettled issues, and article 140
is such an issue, but we wait that the Iraqi
government to us for that. We don’t impose any
solutions to anyone, but it its better that the
article 140 to be implemented according to the Iraqi
permanent constitution.”Concerning the current Iraqi
situations and the future of Iraq he said: “It is
true that the current situations are difficult and
the obstacles are a lot for the Iraqis, but UN
currently doesn’t think on partition of Iraq.”
Ashraf Khadi Arrives Sulaimaniyah
Ashraf Khadi, the former representative of UN
general secretary in Iraq, heading a UN delegation
arrived at Sulaimaniyah international airport and
visited Barham Ahmed Salih, Iraqi deputy PM,
in his residence place in Sulaimaniyah.
They discussed the latest developments in the Iraqi
stage, particularly the security situation and the
decreasing of violence in the capital city of
Baghdad and the other southern Iraqi cities, during
a meeting in which several high KRG officials
attended.
They also condemned martyring Sheikh Abdul Sattar
Abu Reesha, al-Anbar Awakening Conference Head.
Later, Dr. Barham appreciated the efforts of
Ashraf Khadi and said: “The UN can play a much
greater role for further unifying the components.”
Ashraf Khadi clarified the purpose behind his visit to Sulaimaniyah and
said; “The purpose of my visit is to bid farewell to
Dr. Barham and the Kurdish people after ending my
duties as representative of UN general secretary in
Iraq. I hope that President Talabani and Dr. Barham
to continue on their efforts for establishing
security and succeeding the political process in
Iraq.”
Ashraf Khadi also indicated that he paid a visit to
the Arab displaced people in Qalawa neighborhood of
Sulaimaniyah to closely see their living conditions.
New School Year Started in Kurdistan Region
Today Schools in Kurdistan region opened their
doors.
The start of the New School Year is concurrence with
the implementation of new education system. Omar
Fattah, KRG deputy PM, Mr. Dilshad Abdul Rahman, KRG
minister of Education, representatives of students
and teachers’ associations and an envoy of Denmark
parliament attended a ceremony which was held in
Media preparatory school for girls. The ceremony
started with singing (Ay Raqib) anthem and raising
the flag of Kurdistan.
KRG deputy PM, after congratulating Kurdistan region
students and teachers, in a brief speech said: “KRG
made all its efforts for combating illiteracy and
promoting science and education. This year in
addition of changing the education’s system 200 new
schools to be opened .KRG will go on in supplying
all the educational centers with modern labs and
equipments.”
KRG minister of Education also presented a speech in
which he congratulated Kurdistan region’s students
and teachers and convoyed the message of the new
educational year, which is the implementation of the
new educational system in Kurdistan region.
A Delegation from PUK to Go to Europe
A delegation from the PUK Foreign Relations Office
headed by Mala Bakhtiar the member of the Politburo
is going to Europe to meet with Political Parties.
The Kurdistani delegation consists of Shamal
abid al-Wafaa the head of foreign relations office
and Surko Othman the member in the office who is
going to visit (Germany, France, Italy, Sweden,
Netherlands and Austria).
The delegation is going to meet with socialist and
democratic parties, other political sides and
members of Parliaments in these European countries.
In the 1st break for the delegation in Amman city,
Mala Bakhtiar and Surko met with Tayser Qubaa from
Palestinian Liberation Organization, whose
delegation will visit Kurdistan soon.
At the same day, Naief al-Hawatma made a phone call
to Mala Bakhtiar where he greeted President Jalal
Talabani and the Politburo of PUK and all the
Kurdistani people, and he thanked the PUK for his
invitation to visit Kurdistan.
