A Call for the American Companies to Participate
in Kurdistan Reconstruction
Karim Sinjari, KRG Region Minister of Internal
Affairs received Mr. Jess Belly, deputy of the
American Regional Construction Team chief and his
accompanied delegation. They discussed in the
meeting the political situation in Iraq and its
effect on the reconstruction process and presenting
services for Iraqi people. From his side, the
minister explained the stability and security of the
region which forms a major role in projects
execution. The minister invited the American
companies to actively participate in the
reconstruction of Kurdistan region and in making
the construction and development plan successful.
Today a Conference on Women Murder
On Sept 10, women committee in Sulaimania provincial
council in cooperation with (RRT, USAID, and LGP)
will hold a conference under the name of (The Role
of Society and Government in Dealing with the
Phenomenon of Killing Women under the Pretext of
Honor).
The conference which discusses the problem of women
murder will last two days. In this respect Kner
Abdullah, head of women committee in Sulaimaniyah
provincial council told (Kurdistani Nwe) that the
aim of the conference is to plan for preventing
women murder under the pretext of honor.“
In the first session the directorate of dealing with
violence in the Ministry of the Interior will
present the data of women murder and discuss the
philosophy of non violence.", She said. “The second
session will focus on constitutional and legal
aspects and forming legal, economic and social
groups.” She added.
A Committee Dealing with Problems of Violence
against Women
Twana Ali, who is in charge of department of
information in the directorate dealing with violence
against women, declared according to the decision
issued by council of ministers on July 4,
Ministeries of Interior, Peshmarga Affairs and
Justice held a meeting to discuss violence against
women. In the meeting a number of suggestions were
made that accepted by Council of Ministers.
According to suggestions, immunity will be removed
from peshmarga and security forces. In this respect
the courts should send their notifications directly
to Peshmarga affairs, Justice and other concerned
institutions to take the necessary measures about
crimes committed against women. The ministries
concerned also decided to form a joint committee to
deal with pending issues and other problems of
violence against women.
Kurdistan Alliance Denies Having Connections with
Baathists
After the announcement of Osama al-Nujaifi, the MP
from al-Iraqia block in which he claimed that like
other parties, Kurdistan Alliance has connections
with Baathist sides to follow up negotiations, a
source from Kurdistan alliance denied it. ”Al-
Nujaifi always has a negative stance against Kurds
and their case. He is against the Kurdish existence
in Baghdad, Mosul and other areas such as Shangal
and Shekhan. He is against implementing Article 140.
Therefore it is no surprise if such an announcement
comes out from his mouth”, said the source to
Kurdistani Nwe. ”If we have such a connection with
any side we shall unveil it without any reservation.
If this issue is in interest of the Iraqi people,
political process, democracy, strengthening the
government and Kurdish rights, we’ll not be
reluctant to do it”, added the source.
Head of Kirkuk Provincial Council: We Welcome any
Turkish Delegation to See Realities in Kirkuk
Rizgar Ali, Head of Kirkuk Provincial Council,
called Turkey to send an envoy to Kirkuk for
examining realities in Kirkuk and said : “We welcome
any Turkish delegation for searching realities in
Kirkuk ,and to closely see the peaceful coexistence
among the Kirkuk people from all the nationalities
and ethnics.” Rizgar Ali was saying those words
while meeting Mr. Bahros Galaly, head of PUK
relations bureau in Ankara, in which
they both discussed the political and economical
situations in Kirkuk .
They also discussed the bilateral ties between Iraq
and Turkey and how Turkey to play a positive role in
Iraq without interfering in Iraq’s own issues.
Rizgar Ali reassured on the need for Turkey to play
its role in reconstructing Kirkuk as Turkey has
companies that can participate in establishing
projects in Kirkuk.
Rizgar Ali at the same time called the neighbouring
countries not to interfere in Iraq’s own issues,
particularly the Kirkuk issues because people of
Kirkuk only themselves have the constitutional right
to decide on Kirkuk’s future.
President Talabani Allocates 200 Thousand Dollars
for Developing Sulaimaniyah Museum
Mala Bakhtiar, active member of PUK politburo,
received the director and the administrative staff
of Sulaimaniyah museum on Monday.
He emphasized on the importance of museums and
ancient cites which are forming the main, national,
and historical identity of our Kurdish people.
Concerning that he told them that it has been
decided to allocate 200 thousand dollars on
president Talabani’s budget for the broadening and
developing the Sulaimaniyah museum to be a modern
and developed museum and so that it might further
preserve the historical values of our nation. A
number of foreign and regional experts and figures
visited the museum in the past years, described the
museum as one of the big museums concerning the
number of ancient antiques of the area in a way it
reflects the history of Kurdish civilization.
