Chamchamal…. 120 Fields Cleaned from Mines
(Sulaimaniyah province)
In a press conference, the Directorate of Mines
Awareness announced their activities in Chamchamal
District yesterday.
Haji Masifi, the director general of the Mines
office announced that 120 fields are cleaned from
the mines in Chamchamal district and its
surroundings.
”Assisting the handicaps is a part of our programme,
including orthopedics and learning courses in
Smithery, Carpentry, Electronics and tailoring, in
addition to publishing specialized magazines about
Mines awareness”, said Mr. Masifi.“If an accurate
survey will be done for the number of mines victims
it will reach the number of Halabja poisoned
victims.”
Due to a statistics carried out by the above
mentioned directorate, the victims of mines since
1991 uprising in Chamchamal district is as
following:(80) citizens lost their life and (420)
citizens lost a part of their bodies. According to
this survey 1.141.906 square meters of land have
been cleaned and 1728 mines and 1262 explosives are
taken out and disabled.
Hoshiyar Zebari: Visa Demand by Syria and Jordan
is to Reorganize Traveling
During an interview with PUKmedia correspondent in
Cairo, Hoshiyar Zebari, Iraqi FM, declared that the
Iraqi refugees in the neighboring countries must be
treated according to the international principles.
Zebari who attended the 128 round of the Arab
foreign ministers council in Egypt, ended its works
yesterday, said: “Regarding minimizing those
problems facing the Iraqi refugees in Egypt, Syria,
Jordan a draft low is coming which requires
listening to the viewpoints of the Arab countries
and cooperation and support of those countries for
us is very important.” Concerning the visa
requirement fro the Iraqis willing to inter Syria
and Jordan by Syria and Jordan he said that it is to
reorganize travel not hindering their travel.
Regarding the problems facing the Iraqis in the
airports and in the countries they visit, Iraqi FM
said that those civilians who enter those countries
through the border gates must be respected and we
know that they face threats and assaults.“We are
going on negotiating with Arab countries officials’
for further cooperating and supporting those Iraqi
refugees in their territories and our ambassadors
are always free to offer support.” Zebari added.
Iranian Artillery Shells Bamo District
Iran is going on shelling Kurdistan region border
areas, on Sept. 6, Iranian artillery shelled Bamo
district surroundings of Khanaqin area.
In this respect a number of witnesses told PUKmedia
that at 9 o’clock in the morning, Iranian artillery
shelled Gma, Pshta surroundings and Bezal Mountain
for two hours intensively. As a result Bezal
Mountain was badly damaged by fire.
Al-Anfal Perpetrators to Be Executed Next
Saturday
Badiee Aarif, the lawyer of the former Deputy Prime
Minister under Saddam’s regime Tariq Aziz mentioned
that Iraqi Criminal Court informed Ali Hassan al-Majeed,
former Iraqi Minister of Defense Sultan Hashim and
former army Chief of Staff Hussein Rashid that their
execution will be carried out next Saturday. In a
statement for Radio Sawa, Aarif said that the three
detainees told him through a phone call that the
execution date is next Saturday, while any official
source doesn’t have confirmed the news. From his
resident place in Amman, Aarif protested against
carrying out the execution without being ratified by
Iraqi President’s and without allowing the families
of accused to visit them.
President Talabani Receives al-Zaiton Korean
Division Delegation
On Thursday, President Jalal Talabani received in
his private residence in Sulaimaniyah a delegation
from al-Zaiton Korean Division in the attendance of
the 1st Lady Hero Ibrahim, Saadi Ahmed Pera and the
delegations of the Iraqi Government and American
Embassy.President Talabani welcomed them and hoped
success for their duties and services to the people
of Kurdistan. From his side, The Chief of the Korean
delegation expressed his pleasure to meet Talabani,
and he highlighted the activities and service
projects made by his division.
Talabani praised their works and said “You are
carrying out a good work, and serve our people”, and
he hoped they continue in that way by bringing
Korean investors and businessmen to participate in
reconstruction of Kurdistan. In the end of the
meeting, Korean delegation presented commemorative
gifts to President Talabani and the 1st Lady Hero
Ibrahim.
Iraqi Council of Representatives Condemns Iranian
Bombardment of Kurdistan Region Border Villages
Iraqi Council of Representatives, held its second
session on Wednesday, September the 5th, headed by
Dr. Mahmud al-Mashhadani, the chairman of the
council.
Today’s session started by a circulation session
because the legal presentation has not been
completed in which the Iraqi MPs discussed during
the session the Iranian bombardment of the Kurdistan
Region Border Villages.
MP Saadi Barzinji, of Kurdistan alliance list asked
the council to interfere for stopping the
bombardment, shedding light on the miseries of the
local citizens of the border areas of Kurdistan
region and their displacement from their areas
fearing the Iranian bombardment.
Then, Dr. Mahmud al-Mashhadani, the chairman of the
council decided the issue of a condemning statement
and urged the Iraqi government to take urgent steps
for stopping the Iranian Bombardment of the
Kurdistan Region Border Villages .The following is
the full text of the statement:
The Iraqi Council of Representatives condemns the
Iranian bombardment of the border areas of Kurdistan
region. While it expresses its deep concern
regarding that, Iraqi Council of Representatives
asks the Iraqi federal government to make all the
diplomatic efforts for stopping these offensives and
other kinds of aggressions into the Iraqi
territories.
