Tehran, -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has said Iran has asked the German government to explain a PEJAK leader's presence in Germany.

"The German government should be responsible for the presence of certain PEJAK agents in that country," Mottaki told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with economic and trade officials of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines in Tehran on Tuesday.

The leader of the PEJAK group Rahman Haj-Ahmadi has recently announced in an interview that he was staying in Germany.

PEJAK in not listed as terrorist group by any country except Iran.

"It is natural for the the Islamic Republic to make certain efforts to stop terrorist acts in border areas," he said.

Mottaki described Iran's ties with the Iraqi Kurdistan as amicable, and said, "Today, there reside good relations between Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan, our border provinces and companies have wide participation in the reconstruction of the Iraqi Kurdistan and implementation of projects in that region."

He further reminded that some elements always seek to undermine the two sides' relations, and said, "Terrorist groups always sought to impede healthy relations between the two sides and trouble development and prosperity of the region."

The minister pointed out that Iran has naturally managed to halt some terrorist moves and tensions in its border areas, saying, "It is necessary to prevent terrorists' entry to Iran from Iraqi borders and other areas."

Asked about the next round of talks between Iran and the US over Iraq, the top diplomat said Tehran has not yet adopted any specific decision in this regard.

The present leader of the organisation is Haji Ahmadi. According to the Washington Times, half the members of PEJAK are women, many of them still in their teens, and one of the female members of the leadership council is Gulistan Dugan, a psychology graduate from the University of Tehran. This is due primarily to the fact that PJAK is strongly supportive of women's rights. PJAK believes that women must have a strong role in government and must be on an equal level with men in leadership positions.
