Duhok, Kurdistan region (Iraq), -- Turkish
forces shelled cross-border regions in Iraq's
Kurdistan's province of Duhok, an official source
from the border guard forces in Duhok said on
Saturday.
"Turkish artillery fired at two cross-border
villages in Zakho and Amadiyah on Friday night with
no casualties reported," the source, who asked not
to be named, said.
Meanwhile, Robar Harori, a villager from Kani Masi
district of Duhok, said "more than ten artillery
shells fell onto different parts of Haror village
last night, leaving no casualties."
Harori added "the shelling caused damage to orchards
and houses."
Another eyewitness from Nazdor village in Amadiyah
district said that nearly 20 artillery shells landed
near his village last night.
"Some 20 artillery shells landed into areas near our
village, last night, causing no human losses but it
set villagers in panic," Sinaan Zubair said.
Duhok is the third province within Iraq's Kurdistan
region. It is in the far north of Iraq and has
borders with Turkey.
