A non-violent campaign for independence Kurdistan  7.9.2007

A nonviolent and in concert one-day strike through out Kurdistan in support of self-rule is another extremely focal initiative.

The Kurdish regional administration may in advance announce a day for this special event. Government institutions, universities, business centers may remain officially closed and workers may steer clear of their shifts.

In non-violent and democratic manner, from every village, city and governorate, the masses of Kurdistan may pour into the streets, voice their support for self-rule and demand their rights to be taken into consideration.

Such a broad-spectrum initiative can bear global reverberation and attract the focus of mass media. If well-organized and backed by most groups and Kurdish parties, it will significantly help induce our American allies and decelerate the implementation of viable dividing up strategy prior to the US pulling out from Iraq .

Such opportunities may never reiterate in the history. If democrats prevail in the following presidential election, the chance is very slim for this realism to transpire.

Writing petitions, collecting signatures, peace demonstrations are all effective means and will definitely have their impacts.

It has always primarily been the populace rising up and wanting to bring about a change and attempting to shift the direction of their destiny.
