government’s efforts to stem the cholera outbreak.
Barzani allocated additional funds to support the

The Prime Minister discussed not only short-term and
immediate measures but also long-term solutions to
eradicate the disease. He called for a meeting to
discuss the city’s water shortages and to find
qualified and capable partners to implement a water
project and to update the distribution network to
solve the shortages in the long term.
On the Prime Minister’s instructions, 40 water
tankers and additional supplies of chlorine were
sent from Erbil and Duhok provinces to Sulaimaniyah.
The city of Kirkuk , which similarly suffered a
minor outbreak of cholera, also received assistance
from the KRG.
Prime Minister Barzani asked the media to give an
accurate picture of the situation, adding that the
health authorities would provide regular status
reports. Based on the reports and the updates the
situation seemed to be under control.
