Hoshyar Zebari: we delivered a protest note to
Iran and we are waiting for the reply
Hoshyar Zebari, Iraqi foreign minister said “We
delivered a protest note to Iran about Kurdistan
region’s shelling by Iranian artillery”. He also
said that they asked Iran to stop the shelling
because only innocent people will suffer.
He said that KRG and Baghdad government are in
contact but solving this problem by Baghdad
government is in KRG’s interest.
Zebari preferred solving the problems with Iran in
formal, diplomatic ways.
Choman: 250 Families displaced because of the
Shelling
As the result of shelling border areas by Iranian
artillery, the residents of 5 villages are displaced
including: Weze, Maran, Muzhdanian, Khoshkan, and
Ene. The residents of these 5 villages are nearly
250 families, on their way to Soran, Choman, and
Qasre areas to settle there. The shelling set fire
in the areas and resulted in killing 100 head of
sheep and 4 horses, and burning the orchards in the
areas.
Arresting Terrorists in Sharaban
Diyala Operations Command announced today in a press
statement that joint forces stormed Sharaban
district for two days and they have arrested the
terrorist Emir Mihsen al-Arki and 12 of his
accompanied whom are related to al-Qaeda
organization.
”The Iraqi and Multi-National forces will attack the
terrorists strongholds in Himreen lake area and its
surroundings after the terrorists have ran away from
the cities and towns that witnessed the last
military operations”, the statement added.
Thomas Friedman Visits Red House
After he arrived in Kurdistan, yesterday August 29,
Thomas Friedman, the famous American journalist and
writer with Qubad Talabani, the KRG representative
in America visited the Red House Museum (formerly
security headquarters) in Sulaimaniyah.
“Thank you for showing me the effective Museum; this
is a nice way to be proud of those people who were
imprisoned here and never forget them,” Journalist
Friedman said after he visited (Red House).
