Iraqi government allocates 950 million ID to
families of Shangal bombings casualties’
The Iraqi government decided to offer 950 million ID
as aids to the families of the Shangal bombings
casualties’ in which hundreds were lost their lives
and were wounded .today August the 16th, to
implement that decision Dr. Braham Salih, Deputy
Iraqi PM, visited the area and distributed an amount
of 2 million ID over relatives of each of the
casualties families’. Deputy Iraqi PM, in addition
to distributing the financial aid toured the scenes
of the terrorist attacks.
On the other hand health officials from Duhok
emergency hospital said that currently 104 wounded
are been treated, including 40 women and children.
Shelling Kurdistan Region Borders by Turkish
Artillery
Turkish forces started shelling mountain areas of
Khwakurk in Sidakan sub-district at 9:00 am today. A
reliable source stated that Turkish artillery is
shelling all the border areas from Girgan to Almosh
villages, resulted in the burning of Hora and Baro
villages.
Mean while Iranian artillery started shelling Khnera
and Lolan areas, and the casualties are still
unknown.
Moderate Front Signs a Treaty
During a press conference the Iraqi political
party’s treaty is signed by PUK, KDP, Islamic
Supreme Council, and Dawaa party.
The conference was hold by President Talabani,
Kurdistan Region president, Nuri Al-Maliki, and Idil
Abdulmahdi. Concerning the treaty, President
Talabani said that implementing this treaty will be
an important factor for overcoming the crisis,
because in this treaty Iraqi interest is considered
on not parties’ interest. Nuri Al-Maliki said that
this treaty is not a matter to moderate parties or
violate parties but it related to the promotion
political process in Iraq.
Iran Brings Artillery to the Border
This morning August 16, Iranian artillery shelled
Qandil areas. Hussein Ahmad, the mayor of Pishdar
told PUKmedia that this morning Iranian Artilleries
bombarded the Qandil areas, Razga and Maradw
villages and a number of houses were destroyed. He
also declared that the people of these villages fled
their villages and left their homes PUKmedia got
some information that Iran brought some artillery to
Badinan Bridge and it seems that the bombarding will
continue.
Arresting 87 Terrorists and Suspects in Kirkuk
Brigadier Sarhad Qadir the chief of districts police
in Kirkuk declared that 87 terrorists and suspects
were arrested in a storm for the industrial area in
Kirkuk since Wednesday noon till Thursday morning.
The campaign was carried out by a joint force from
Kirkuk police and the Iraqi army, 2 of the
terrorists were wanted by the security forces, the
Brigadier added. All the arrested persons were from
Diyala governorate and they came to Kirkuk without
the knowledge of the security
forces. 30 pieces of weapons and 2 cars were also
seized in the campaign.
300 Displaced Families in Kirkuk Receive
Compensation
Khalid Shwani, Iraqi MP told Kurdistani Nwe that the
case of compensate 300 displaced families in Kirkuk
and repatriating them has been dealt with. He also
declared that for repatriating the displaced
families they discussed the issue with Iraqi
government and Baghdad showed its agreement.
He also said that they have other plans for the
compensation of other displaced families.
Dr. Zryan Visits the Victims of Shangal
Explosions
On August 15, 2007 Dr. Zryan Osman, Health Minister,
as Representative of KRG Prime Minister visited
Duhok Emergency Hospital to acquaintance about the
victims of Shangal explosions. He was received by a
number of KRG officials and visited the wounded
people. Then he said that the hospitals in Kurdistan
Region are open for treating the victims and he
condemned the terrorist action.
It is worth mentioning that 85 wounded people of
Shangal explosion were taken to Duhok Emergency
Hospital.
Kurdistan’s government announces day of mourning
(VOI)
Erbil, Aug 16,- The government of Kurdistan region
announced a day of mourning on Thursday after the
four simultaneously bombing attacks that rattled
Sinjar district Tuesday night.
“The government of Kurdistan announced a day of
mourning on Thursday throughout Kurdistan after
Tuesday’s suicide attacks that targeted Yazidis,”
the government said.
“The government strongly denounced the attack,
describing it as a “barbaric act” against civilian
Kurds,” the statement also said.
Four car bombs went off simultaneously in Sinjar
district in Ninewa provinces on Tuesday night,
killing and injuring 500, most of them are
civilians.
Sinjar district, 120 km to the northwest of Mosul,
is inhabited by the Yazidis, a religious sect whose
followers are generally situated in northern Iraq.
Some 350,000 Yazidis live in villages around Mosul,
405 km north of Baghdad.
