Political Process in Iraq
Kurdistan regional government Coordinator to UN
welcomes the new U.N. resolution on crucial are as
national reconciliation, regional dialogue,
humanitarian assistance and human rights.
The new UN resolution 1770 (2004), highlights the
greater understanding that what happened in Iraq had
widespread effects not only for the neighboring
countries, but also for the world community. The
United Nations would be increasing its role and
looked forward to working in "close partnership"
with the Iraqi Government and people to encourage
national political dialogue, help with humanitarian
assistance and promote human rights. We hope the new
adopting resolution responds to the humanitarian
needs, and will consider ways and means to encourage
the international community to work collectively to
ease the suffering of refugees and displaced persons
in the whole country including those in Kurdistan
region. At same time, we welcome the new effort by
the UN organization and its members to increase the
numbers of international staff in Iraq, mainly in
those stable areas in the north and south of the
country, that are relatively secure enough, in order
to enhance the development of effective civil,
social and essential services, including through
