A Kurdish Talented Youth Establishes Airplane Factory

Adnan Mufti, Speaker of Kurdistan Region Parliament, on August the 8th in the parliament of Kurdistan in the capital city of Erbil received the Kurdish talented youth, Nariman Salih, who intends to establish a factory for making tourism airplanes.

During a meeting Speaker of Kurdistan Region Parliament promised to cooperate and support him in his current project and his coming projects and he will try to get the support of the KRG institutions for him. Nariman Ahmed, who elected as the youth of the year during the 2007 youth festival, presented the design of making a factory and the early stages of making the first airplane to the Speaker of Kurdistan Region Parliament, promising that by the end of the year the first airplane will be finished.

According to the speech of the talented young, he designed his airplane from an American model and its design has been sketched in a modern computer program. He participated in several special courses in China, UAE, Turkey, and has the PPL certification in aviation.

Sulaimaniyah City Environment Looming Danger

Sulaimaniyah environment faces unexpected dangers particularly its air which %10 was polluted, this is considered a high rate of a city’s pollution, also its drinking water, streams and rivers have been polluted.
During a broad meeting, Ararat Majid Rahim, deputy chairman of Green Kurdistan Association said that Sulaimaniyah air pollution has reached %10. Pollution of the streams and rivers is more than 50% because of mixing with sewage. Sulaimaniyah soil is covered with rubbish and the burning of the rubbish also pollutes air. Deputy chairman of Green Kurdistan Association said that these problems if were not dealt with then it will have negative effects on Kurdistan environment and the health of people.

KRG Ministries of Environment and Peshmerga Affirm Cooperation on Protecting Kurdistan Environment

Aiming at the reinforcement and cooperation between both KRG ministries of Environment and Peshmerga Affaires, KRG minister of environment Mr. Dara Muhammad Amin, accompanied by several officials of his ministry visited the KRG Ministry of Peshmerga Forces Affaires on Wednesday, August 8th and they were received by Omar Othman, KRG minister of Peshmerga Affairs.
During a meeting KRG minister of environment, asked the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces, as previously had effective role in librating Kurdistan region, to play their crucial role in protecting Kurdistan’s environment at this stage.During another part of the meeting, they discussed opening environmental courses for Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces so that they might be more acquainted with Kurdistan region’s environment.
On his part, KRG Minister of Peshmerga Affairs said that commandant of Kurdistan Peshmerga for protecting environment will always serve the environment of Kurdistan and will be a good cooperator to KRG Ministry of Environment. Also during the meeting they decided to have direct contacts between both ministries.

Mr. Kosrat Rasul Meets with the UK Ambassador in Iraq

On Tuesday, August the 7th, Mr. Kosrat Rasul Ali, deputy PUK general secretary, received Dominic Asqith, the UK ambassador in Iraq and Alison Kimp the general consul of UK in northern Iraq and Kurdistan region in Sulaimaniyah city.
During a meeting they discussed the situation in Iraq and Kurdistan region. Deputy PUK general secretary, indicated that for getting out from the political crisis Iraq witnesses, a powerful government must be formed, representing all the ethnics of the Iraqi people. He also said that the government to be put under experimentations for a period if it couldn’t fulfill its duties then it is better to think another solution in away that every region to rule itself. Concerning Kurdistan region deputy of Kurdistan Region President, said: “The strategic agreement signed between PUK and PDK a joint leadership for it has been set and soon they will meet in Baghdad by the supervision of president Talabani and Mr. Massud Barzani. A basic principle of the agreement is to work for solving the problems and to reorganize the ad ministerial affairs of KRG.”...

Mala Bakhtyar Receives British Ambassador in Iraq

On Tuesday, August 7th, Mala Bakhtiyar, the active member of PUK Politburo, received Mr. Dominic Asquith, British ambassador in Iraq and the British Consul to Erbil, capital of Kurdistan Region. During a meeting they discussed the latest developments in Iraq and Kurdistan region, specially the economic situation in Kurdistan region and the economic as well as construction developments in Sulaimaniyah province.
The bilateral relations between both sides were discussed as well. During the meeting the British ambassador highlighted that Sulaimaniyah city has witnessed significant development during the last two years in the fields of building and construction.

Sulaimaniyah Second Short Film Festival

For developing and strengthening cinematic attempts, Fine Arts Community of Sulaimaniyah General Center will hold its second short film festival on November 19, 2007 in Sulaimaniyah city. The purpose is to provide a background and worthy atmosphere to introduce Kurdish audiences to this art. Festival qualifications of Submission:

1- Festival is special to dramatic films.
2- Films running time should be less than 30 minutes.
3- Films must be formatted on DVD or mini DVD or DV cam.
4- Films must not have been shown at other Kurdistan Regions Festivals.
5- Films submitted for the festival will not be returned.
6- Our Community has the right to use 60 seconds of each entry received for advertising on TVs Festival program.
7- Films participation needs the filmmakers consent.
8- Filling out forms means acceptance to all festival rules.
9- Submission Deadline is August 15, 2007. For more information, please contact the community

Prizes: All films will receive the appreciation certificate.
1- The best prize is awarded to the best director, scenario, filming, montage, the best male actor, the best female actor.
2- The prize of participants abroad, the prize is awarded to the best two films of the festival.
3- The jury committee grants its prize to the festivals best film.

Kurdistan Parliamentarians Union Declared

On Tuesday, August the 7th, the Kurdistan parliamentarians union was declared. A number of Kurdistan Region Parliamentarians announced the formation of Kurdistan Parliamentarians Union and stated that the preparatory committee has taken office for holding the first conference of the union. The following is the full text of the declaration of the preparatory committee:

For the sake of working and supporting the people of Kurdistan region, to defend its legitimate rights in peace, democracy, putting the proficiency of MPs in aspects of legislation, culture, and science to serve Kurdistan Regions institutions, it required the foundation of Kurdistan Parliamentarians Union, as those unions that exist in the civilized countries .In order to be a vital platform for reinforcing relations among the MPs of Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the world. Therefore, we announce the Kurdistan Parliamentarians Union according to the law number (17) - 2006 of Kurdistan Region Parliament. We the members of the preparatory committee of the Kurdistan Parliamentarians Union for holding the first conference of the union are taking office for organizing the initial works until the holding of the conference. All those MPs of Kurdistan Region Parliament during the first round and the current second round and those Kurdish MPs in the Iraqi federal parliament who are still members either in Kurdistan region parliament or the Iraqi parliament have the right membership of this union by filling a special form prepared for this purpose.
