A New Private Hospital Opens in Khanaqeen

On 1 August 2007, in Khanaqeen Centre, PUK political bureau active member, Mullah Bakhtiyar, met the Arab figures and noblemen of Jalawla district's Tbij area. During the meeting, he appreciated the soul of fraternity and coordination, especially between Kurds and Arabs and asked them to protect the area from terrorists and riot. In return, the Arab tribal delegation of Tbij thanked PUK and Kurdistan Regional Government sending peacekeeping forces to the area for driving out terrorists.
In addition, they expressed their happiness and consent on the forces treatment in the area. On the same day, in the presence of political bureau active member and a number of the area’s governmental, party officials and members, Hiwa private hospital opened by Mustafa Chawrash.
(This hospital is the first private one in Khanaqeen, consists of four floors, thirty medical remedy halls, five surgery halls, and two birth rooms) said Dr .Khalid Abas director of the hospital. Kamal Bajalan, a citizen, funded the cost of the project which is $1bilion five million. Heart, bones, women diseases are treated and kidney, general surgical operation are performed in the hospital. It is worth stating that More than seventy medical experts work therein.

A Delegation of Kurdish – Japanese Fraternity Association Visits Japan

After cooperation with several Japanese civil society organizations the Kurdish –Japanese Fraternity Association was established in Kurdistan Region and was welcomed largely in Japan, a delegation of the above-mentioned association departed to Japan for reinforcing the relations and to establish the same association in Japan.
During a press conference today, August 1, Dr. Abas Mustafa, lecturer at Sulaimani University and delegation’s member, said that a delegation of the association including several members will visit Japan upon an invitation of the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
“The purpose behind the visit is to establish alike association in Japan for reinforcing the bilateral ties between both Kurdish and Japanese nations. Also aiding Kurdistan Region by Japan as a donator country, bringing Japanese companies to Kurdistani for investing and opening the gate towards the both nations in aspects of culture ,humanitarian ,even political.”, he added.

President Talabani Discusses Situation of Iraq with UK Ambassador

Jalal Talabani, the Iraqi president, on Thursday, August 2, in his office in Baghdad received Dominic Asquith, the UK ambassador to Iraq.
During a meeting they discussed the latest political developments in Iraq, particularly post-Iraqi Accordance Front’s withdrawal from the Iraqi government era, and how to deal with the stalled problems and removing the obstacles which hinders the Iraqi political process and the national unity. Talabani indicated to his Excellencies efforts during the last moments of the Accordance Front’s dead line with the Iraqi PM and Accordance Front to defuse the current crisis, pointing to his constant efforts to find a political settlement for the current political crisis.

He also clarified that he intends to launch a new and comprehensive course of discussions with the Iraqi government and the leaving sides from it ,and that he intends to suggest this subject to be discussed during the meeting of the political council for national security on late Thursday ,August 2. The two sides also discussed the detainees’ dossier and the follow out of it from the related sides. Reinforcement of the bilateral relations between Iraq and UK was stressed during the meeting as well.

PUK and PDK Media meet together

Today, August 2, at 10 o’clock, Mr. Azad Jundiani, the chief of PUK central media office and a number of office members, received Saro Qadr, the chief of PDK central media office accompanied by a delegation including: Tahsin Ismaeel, Aso Karim and Salar Osman, the PDK members, and also Dler Usuf, the director of Zagros TV. Concerning the meeting, Saro Qadr, the chief of PDK central media office, told PUKmedia: The purpose of the meeting is to embody peace and harmony towards events, deepen the soul of fraternity among the media based on the strategic agreement between the two parties.

Kurdistan Flag Flatters in Australia’s Streets

After winning of Iraq in Asia Cup 2007, the Kurdish community in Australia celebrated in a number of cities like: Victoria and Sidney. They raised Kurdistan Flag all over the streets. PUKmedia correspondent interviewed with a number of Australian citizens, one of them said that this flag is the new Iraqi Flag after falling the dictatorship. A woman who was more acquainted with the situations in Iraq said that this is the flag of the people who were suppressed by the former Baath regime, and they are now keeping the security of the country.

575 Police elements and 600 Border Guards, finished their training in Kurdistan Region

On August 1, after two months of several theoretical and practical studying in the fields of law, military, organizing, health, human rights, training, and weaponry; the commencement for both 575 Iraqi police elements and 600 border guards were held.
The parties were attended by a number of brigadiers, academic guards and a number of American soldiers. It is worth mentioning that one of the parties was held in Khanaqeen and the other one in Sulaimani.

An Amount of TNT Seized in Korean Zaitun Military Camp

Erbil: An amount of explosives were seized in a car on late July 31, in the first check point of the Korean Zaitun team which is supervised by the Kurdish zeravani forces.

According to a source inside the Zaitun military camp, the car was carrying three persons, including two Arabs and a Kurd.
Those three persons are transporting goods by car to the American forces inside the Zaitun military camp and they hid 30 kg of explosives among the goods and intended to take it inside the camp, the same source said.

Captain Wilson, head of civil activities of the American forces, denied the news, saying if such an incident had happened they would have known it and that they have not been aware of such an event, calling at the same time the American forces’ intelligence, that their headquarters’ are located inside the Zaitun camp, and they have stated that they have not known such a case. However, the source affirms the news, saying the car was of Dania type carrying Baghdad tableaux number.
