Iran: Islamic revolutionary guards kills
three Kurds in Baneh, provokes public anger in
Kurdistan

Baneh, Iranian Kurdistan, -- The Iranian
Islamic revolutionary guards (also known as the
Pasdaran) or SSF opened fire on a car at the entry
point to the Kurdish city of Baneh in the Iranian
Kurdistan on Sunday, killing three Kurds and
wounding another one seriously.
Baneh city is located in Iranian Kurdistan near the
border with Iraqi autonomous region of Kurdistan.
Outraged by the heinous crime, the local residents
took to the streets in protest and clashed with the
suppressive forces.
The SSF attacked the angry crowd wounding a number
of local Kurdish residents and arresting many
others. In defiance, the demonstrators torched the
SSF station.
Fearing the spread of protest the regime called in
reinforcements from nearby towns. The clashes and
unrest continued until late evening.

Iranian Kurdistan

Iranian Kurdistan (Kurdish: Kurdistana Îranę or
Kurdistana Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) or Rojhilatę
Kurdistan (East of Kurdistan)) is an unofficial name
for the parts of Iran inhabited by Kurds and has
borders with Iraq and Turkey. It includes the
greater parts of West Azerbaijan province, Kurdistan
Province, Kermanshah Province, and Ilam Province.
Kurds form the majority of the population of this
region with an estimated population of 4 million.
The region is the eastern part of the greater
cultural-geographical area called Kurdistan.
