OSLO, August 7, -- Norwegian independent oil
producer DNO said on Tuesday that production from
its field in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq
rose to 3,196 barrels per day in July from 781 in
June.
DNO is the first western oil company to start
drilling in post-war Iraq, where it has a deal with
the Kurdistan regional authorities in the north,
despite uncertainties over control of the country's
petroleum resources.
"In mid to late June, DNO started extended test
production from wells at the Tawke field in
Kurdistan in order to gather additional reservoir
and well productivity information," DNO said in a
statement.
The volumes produced in test production at Tawke
have been included in the June and July monthly
figures on a 55 percent working interest basis, and
the oil has been delivered to the domestic market by
tanker trucks, DNO said.
"The test production will continue in August," it
said.
DNO's total July production from interests in fields
off Norway, in Yemen and in Iraq rose to 17,040
barrels per day from 13,580 in June, the company
said. |
