Erbil-Hewer, Kurdistan region (Iraq), --
Ahead of the anticipated US report on security and
political progress made in Iraq, a delegation of the
Kurdistan’s alliance is heading to the United States
upon the decision of both Kurdistan Patriotic Union
and Kurdistan Democratic Party in order to convey
security concerns to Washington mainly the issue of
borders with Turkey and Iran.
MP Dr Mahmoud Othman said the delegation comprises
Kurdish leaders and lawmakers due to meet with US
Administration and Congress members.
Kurdistan’s Alliance MP expressed his disapproval of
Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki allowing for Turkish
Forces to enter Iraqi Kurdistan territories in order
to track down militants of Kurdistan Labor Party. He
added that Al Maliki’s approval is unacceptable for
it breaches the country’s sovereignty and reminds of
the former regime’s activities, noting that Al
Maliki’s government could not bear ministerial
crisis with Kurdish parties.
As for the Iranian and Turkish shelling on Kurdish
villages, the Kurdish senior said that the region’s
parliament has cut off its annual recess to hold an
exceptional meeting on Tuesday in order to discuss
the latest developments in the region mainly on the
borders.
The Kurdish delegation is expected as well to
discuss in the United States constitutional issues
mainly the necessity of implementing Article 140.
