Erbil-Hewler, Kurdistan region (Iraq), --
President of the Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani
urged Peshmerga (Kurdish fighters) and the interior
ministry to intervene to protect Kurds in the
regions coming under armed attack, accusing regional
countries of standing behind such attacks.
“I demand the region’s forces in the interior and
Peshmerga ministries, in addition to the region’s
guard forces, to help Kurds in the regions that have
become targets for armed groups and Kurds’ enemies,”
Barzani’s office said in a statement.
“Barzani also demanded that the Kurdish health
ministry and all Kurdish citizens help those who
were wounded in the Sinjar bombings that occurred on
Tuesday,” the statement added.
The district of Sinjar in Ninewa province was jolted
yesterday by four car bombs which went off
simultaneously,
killing and injuring more than
400 persons, most of whom were
civilians. |

Multi-National Forces to put an end to attacks
against Kurds,” the statement said.
