Jabar Yawer: Sending Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces is According to an Official Request of Iraqi Federal

Sulaimaniyah, -- Jabar Yawer the official spokesman of Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces (Kurdistan Region Guard Forces) during a press conference in Ministry of Peshmerga Affaires hall in Sulaimaniyah announced that the process of sending Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces is according to an Official Request of Iraqi Federal Government for Protecting Electric power nets in Kirkuk and Beji and will not pose a security threat to the area.

He also clarified to the reporters by displaying several documents and evidences that the process of sending 6000 Peshmerga troops to those areas is according to a request of Iraqi Ministry of Defense for protecting the electricity towers from terrorist attacks. These statements of Yawer comes after rigid reactions from several sides concerning the decision of sending Kurdistan Peshmerga forces to several central Iraqi areas particularly a Jamal Shan’s claims ,the deputy of Turkmen Front who has said that sending Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces to Kirkuk and its surroundings will create security threats to the area.

Yawer also said that their forces are part of the Iraqi State and on that base they can protect those areas and the Electric power nets, and it is worth mentioning that out of out of 179 towers 55 were exploded by the terrorists. The Iraqi government on May the 5th officially requested from KRG to send Kurdistan Peshmerga forces to the area, and on July 28 the fourth battalion of Iraqi army and the MNF will held a press conference in Kirkuk city regarding Jamal Shans claims ’, Yawer added.

Iraqi soldier killed in attack near Kirkuk (VOI)

Kirkuk, Kurdistan region border with (Iraq), --  An Iraqi soldier was killed on Friday when unknown gunmen attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, a police source said. "An armed group in a car attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint on Kirkuk-Hawijah road, killing one soldier," the source said. The source added "the soldier's body was sent to a Kirkuk morgue." Kirkuk is 250 km northeast of Baghdad.

President Talabani Sends a Letter to King Abdullah

Jordan King Abdullah the 2nd stressed on support of his country to the efforts aimed to protect the Iraqi people unity and ended violence status in Iraq. Royal Divan announced that King Abdullah met yesterday Mr. Nasser Al-Aani Iraqi Presidency Divan chairman and he stressed on strengthening of cooperation and relations between the two countries in achieving the interests of their people.
Al-Aani carried a letter from Iraqi President Jalal Talabani to King Abdullah to strengthen bilateral relations between both countries in different fields.

Iran Fires Kurdish Smugglers

On July 26, the Iranian revolutionary guards fired the Kurdish smugglers who transfer goods from Iran into Kurdistan Region, wounding a person and confiscating their goods, a close source told PUKmedia on Thursday.
Since a week the Iranians closed all the border gates in Haji Omaran area, the source added.

President Talabani Received a Qibtee Delegation

President Talabani received in his office in Sulaimaniyah Abuna Shnoda; head of orthodox’s in Iraq on July 26th. During a meeting Talabani welcomed the delegation warmly and expressed his happiness for their visit. Also during the meeting Abuna Shnoda delivered salutations of pope Shnoda, pope of the Egyptian Qibtee who hoped good health for Talabani.
On his part the Iraqi president asked the delegation to deliver his regards, appreciations and special salutations’ to the pope and all the Qibtee people in Egypt, hoping success for entirely Qibtee people.
Later his Excellency shed light on his continuous efforts for supporting the Christian brothers and said: “we on our side did not stack in helping our Christian brothers in Iraq and Kurdistan Region, and we consider that as our human, Islamic and patriotic duty.” Finally Abuna Shnoda thanked President Talabani for the warm reception and the precious gift that he presented to them.
