Head of German Green Party Visits Sulaimaniyah
University
Sulaimaniyah, -- A delegation of German Green Party
hosted by PUK Politburo visited Sulaimaniyah
University and met with Dr. Ali Saeed, head of
Sulaimani University and his deputy on July 26.
During a meeting they talked about the enrollment
system in Sulaimaniyah University and its scientific
level. Later they made a tour to the university’s
departments .
Head of the Green Party, Cloddy Rose during a
statement pointed to the stability of Sulaimaniyah
city as compared to the other Iraqi areas and said
that this progress is a step towards the city’s
development in the social and scientific aspects.
Blast kills, injures 31 civilians in Kirkuk (VOI)
Kirkuk, Kurdistan region border with (Iraq), -- July
26, -- At least six civilians were killed and 25
others were injured in a car bomb blast on Thursday
afternoon in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, a
local police source said.
"A car rigged with explosives blew up today at 6:00
pm in a crowded market in Kirkuk, killing six
civilians and injuring 25 others,” the source, who
preferred his name not be mentioned, said. The
source added "the wounded were rushed to nearby
hospitals for treatment, while the bodies were sent
to a Kirkuk hospital morgue."
"Some commercial shops were also damaged because of
the blast," the source said.
Kirkuk city is a Kurdistani city and it lies just
south border of the Kurdistan autonomous region.
Based on Iraq's Constitution a referendum is to be
held in late 2007 to decide whether the oil-rich
Kurdish province should be annexed to the safe
semiautonomous Kurdistan region in Iraq's north.
A Dcephalic Child Born in Erbil
Erbil, -- On July 25 a dicephalic child is borne in
Erbil birth hospital who has three hands, and three
feet and immediately after birth died. In this rare
incident which happened in the capital city of
Erbil, in Kurdistan region also happens such
incidents, therefore, and that appears in the
picture was seen several times in the world TV
channels.
Doctors have already stated the cause of such
incidents is during early ovum impregnating and
entering two sperms at the time into the mother’s
womb and it’s a natural case. Those children who
born in such cases, some of them will live and then
they will be splinted from each other through
surgery and the possibility of life after surgery
are rare.
Iraqi President Talabani Arrives Sulaimaniyah
city
Sulaimaniyah, -- His Excellency ,Iraqi president
Jalal Talabani, arrived at Sulaimaniyah
International Airport on Wednesday ,received by
Kosrat Rasul Ali, deputy president of Kurdistan
Region and several PUK Politburo and Leadership
Committee members on late July 25.
Speaking to the reporters his Excellency said that
he will meet Massoud Barzani, Kurdistan Region
President, on tomorrow and will talk about the
bilateral relations between PUK and KDP and the KRG
affaires.
Regarding the national reconciliation process his
Excellency stated that the process is going on in a
good way successfully.
Concerning the recent visit of Ibrahim al-Jafari,
the former PM of Iraq, to Kurdistan Region his
Excellency described the visit as a successful one
and said that his visit had positive impacts.
An International Border Gate with Iran “Bashmakh”
to be opened on July 26
Sulaimaniyah, -- On July 26 at about 9:00 am local
time “Bashmakh” border gate will be opened as an
international borer gate, an official source said.
In attendance of several KRG officials, including
Mr. Dana Ahmed Majid, Sulaimaniyah governor, heads
of associated offices like Passport and Residence
Office and Customs Office, and a delegation of the
Iranian Kurdish city of Sinah, including the city’s
governor, Bashmakh border gate officially will be
opened.
After opening the gate, the Iranian delegation
visits Sulaimani to sign a protocol on formalization
of Bashmakh gate as an international border gate,
the source stated.
In Bashmakh gate previously only Iranian products
were entered into the Kurdistan Region, but hence
after according to the protocol to be signed and
after formalization of the gate, we can export
products from Kurdistan Region into the territories
of Islamic Republic of Iran, the source clarified.
