PUK, PDK and Islamic Party Representatives Meet

In the presence of Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and his Deputy Tariq Al-Hashimi, representatives of PUK, PDK and Iraqi Islamic Party met at the President Talabani’s office to discuss security and political challenges and improve relations between these parties.
The meeting was attended also by (Dr. Barham Salih, Aaref Tayfor, Dr. Latief Rashid, Firyad Rawanduzi from PUK and PDK), and (Ayad Samaraie, Mohammed Fadhil, Dr. Zaid Al-Aani and others from Islamic party).


President Talabani Receives Netherlands Ambassador

President Jalal Talabani received today Mr. Robert Brinks Netherlands ambassador in Baghdad at the end of his mission in Iraq.
The ambassador stressed on the support of his country to the political operation and democracy in Iraq.
He also evaluated the role of Kurdistan government and people on helping Christians resorted to Kurdistan fearing from terrorist operations in Baghdad and other cities.
President Talabani wished success to the ambassador on his new work and more progress for the Netherlands friendly people.

28 fields cleared of Mines

Sulaimaniyah province: A source in MCO declared that in the last 6 months, in the towns of Chamchamal, Sharbazher, Rania, Sharazur, and Khanaqin 28 mine fields were cleared and 2683 mines and 1823 Munitions were destroyed. The source also said that 31 other mine fields are in the process and they will be cleared in collaboration with MAG and Nap organizations.

Iran Artillery Shells Hajy Omaran for the Third Time

On July 24, for the third time for about 24 hours, Iran artillery from, Lajan, Piran Shahr, shelled some border areas near Haji Omaran.
A close source exclusively told PUKmedia, shelling Kani Khatwn, Salawta hill, and Dashti Mawatan is still going on. As a esult many people deserted their home in Mawatan.

Ibrahim Jafari: by the end of December Article 140 Must be Implemented

After his meeting with PUK Politburo, ex-Iraqi PM Ibrahim al-Jafari during a press conference on July 23 clarified the aim of his visit to Sulaimaniyah city and said that article 140 is a part of Iraq’s constitution which has a legal and constitutional reality, must be implemented. He also stated that when he was PM of Iraq he identified three committees for implementing article 140, saing that Kirkuk has its own importance, emphasizing that until the end of 2007 article 140 must be implemented.

Concerning the Iraqi petroleum law he said that there are different views as oil is the main revenue of Iraq, it needs more discussions for drafting an acceptable law. Next he said that during Paul Braymer’s reign the eradication of Baath law was issued, leaving good and bad consequences which need solutions.
regarding Iraq’s sovereignty he said: “when there is any problem it must be settled by dialogue and negotiations because language of arms and violence are overdue”.
On his side Mala Bakhtiyar, the active member of PUK Politburo, said that the few months ahead we will wait Maliki to see how he steps forward concerning the implementation of article 140 and the coming months will be decisive.
