Dukan, Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan region (Iraq),
-- Both PUK and KDP politburos held a meeting
supervised by Iraqi president and general secretary
of PUK Jalal Talabani, and Massoud Barzani, the
president of Kurdistan region and leader of KDP
today, July 27 in the Dukan summer resort.
In a press conference president Talabani said that
they discussed the political situations in Iraq and
Kurdistan Region, also the relations with the
neighboring countries.
Talabani said that both PUK and KDP signed a
strategic agreement and they will announce a joint
declaration soon.
Answering a question about the moderate front,
Talabani said that they welcome other parties to
join the moderate front that will be formed and he
said they discussed the Iraqi national
reconciliation process.
On his side Massoud Barzani hoped to reinforce the
relations between Kurdistan region and Turkey after
AKP’s success in parliamentary elections in Turkey. |

Answering a question
about sending Kurdistan Peshmerga forces to Kirkuk
and its surroundings, Barzani said that Kurdistan
Peshmerga forces are part of the Iraqi federal
military forces and whenever it is necessary they
can deploy in any place in Iraq, and previously they
were deployed in Baghdad city.
