Erbil-Hewler, Kurdistan (Iraq), -- Head of
Kurdistan region's security apparatus Masrour

accused of planning and carrying out the suicide
attack on the Interior Ministry in Kurdistan’s
government in last May in the Kurdistani capital of
Erbil.
"We have arrested the group that planned and carried
out the suicide bombing against the Interior
Ministry in Erbil. They are three Kurds and two
Arabs from Mosul, one of whom was killed sometime
ago," Masrour Barzani, director of Kurdistan
Security Agency, and son of Kurdistan President
Massoud Barzani said.
He added "all the detainees were working within the
Northern Region of the so-called Islamic State in

On May 9, a suicide attacker
detonated a truck crammed with explosives near the
Interior Ministry compound, killing 14 and injuring
87 most of whom were employees of the ministry. It
also caused considerable damage to two buildings.
Kurdish Ansar
al-Islam terrorist group has
claimed responsibility
for the blast.
The agency director unveiled for the first time the
names of the accused persons saying "they are:
Sufoug Sultan Abdullah, alias Abo Sabah, Sultan
Ibrahim Ahmed, alias Abo Muthanna, Muhamed Ameen
Nour, alias Salah, and Dilshad Muhamed Ameen."
"Sankr Kaka Mirza had also participated in the
operation, but he was killed in Mosul," the director
added.
Director Barzani did not reveal the time of the
arrests, or whether the suspects had confessed the
plotting, but he said that the person who carried
out the attack is a non-Iraqi Arab whose identity
had not been known yet.
