UK: Three more held in killing a Kurdish
asylum seeker Goran Barzan Fariq

Hampshire, UK, -- Three more men have been
arrested after the death of a 20-year-old Iraqi Kurd
who was stabbed in a park.
Ten people have been questioned over the death of
Goran Barzan Fariq after a fight in the Queen
Elizabeth Country Park, near Petersfield, on 9 June.
One of those - Fakher Mohammed, 22, from Portsmouth
- has been charged with murder and is currently
awaiting trial.
Two of the three men, aged 27 and 28, arrested on
Tuesday were released but a 20-year-old is still
being questioned.
Five other men had already been arrested in
connection with the death before being bailed. A
20-year-old woman was also arrested and released
with no further action taken against her.
Police said there had been a large annual gathering
of Iraqi Kurdish families at the park.
A picture of the man killed at a Hampshire beauty
spot in a church-organised family barbecue has now
been released.
Goran Barzan Fariq, of Elm Grove, Southsea, pictured
right, was stabbed in the stomach at Queen Elizabeth
Country Park, near Petersfield, when a fight erupted
at the family event on June 9.
The 20-year-old victim, from the city of Erbil in
the Kurdistan region of Iraq, died from his injuries
two days later and police launched a murder inquiry. |

Fakher Mohammed, 22, from Portsmouth, has been
charged with murder. Five other men and a woman, all
from Portsmouth, were released on bail, and
yesterday three more people were arrested on
suspicion of his murder.
The three men are aged 20, 27 and 28, but only the
20 year old is still in custody.
