Al-Naqshabandi did not set a date for the visit.

The minister also met with Egypt's Mufti Ali Gomaa.

Commenting on the importance of the rule of law for economic development, the Prime Minister said, “On many occasions during our meetings and interviews with businessmen and investors inside and outside the country we are asked: ‘How can we protect our investments?’ The response to this question should be found in the courts. It is very important to provide legal guarantees to all concerned.”

Mr Farouq Jamil Sadiq said he believed that this congress was the first of its kind in Iraq. Echoing the sentiments of the Prime Minster, he said, “It is of the utmost importance that judges should be free of interference from political parties”.
He said that the Ministry for Justice totally supported the impetus behind the congress.

The congress was attended by members of the Kurdistan Judges Union; Dr Kemal Kirkuki, Deputy Speaker of the Kurdistan National Assembly; Mr Norul Rasheed, Head of UNAMI’s Human Rights Section, as well as several KRG officials.
