Kurdistan: 14 persons arrested on charges
of infiltration at borders with Turkey

Zakho, Kurdistan region (Iraq), -- Fourteen
persons were arrested by the Kurdish security border
forces in Zakho, Duhuk province, while trying to
infiltrate to Turkish territories, a security source
said on Thursday.
"Fourteen civilians were captured Wednesday evening
in the triangle area near Iraq's Kurdistan borders
with Turkey and Syria while trying to enter Turkish
territories illegally," Lieutenant Colonel Hussein
Tamr, director of border forces in Duhuk province,
said.
The triangle area is at meeting borders of Iraqi
Kurdistan, Syria and Turkey. It is 10 km west of
Zakho, farthest northern city, on borders with
Turkey.
"They are Iraqis from Kurdistan Sulaimaniyah," he
added, noting they admitted that they were trying to
enter Turkey and then to reach Europe from there.
Tamr said "age the detained people was ranging from
16 to 22."
Duhuk is the third province within Iraq's Kurdistan
region. It is in the far north of Iraq. It has
borders with Turkey in the north and with Syria in
the west.
