Erbil, Kurdistan region (Iraq),-- Iraq's
Kurds welcomed on Saturday the document issued by
the International Compact for Iraq (ICI) conference
held in Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm Al-Sheikh on
Friday.
The point is not that the document has been issued
intensifying international support for Iraq to save
the country, but in application, a member in the
Kurdistan Alliance, Mahmoud Osman, said in press
statements.
He added that if the Iraqi government really sought
regional and international backing to get out of the
mayhem, it has to "radically" change its policies
especially what is relevant to national
reconciliation, putting an end to sectarian violence
and disarming militias. |

The Iraqi government, led by Prime Minister Nouri
Al-Maliki has vowed to stick to the ICI Document,
then it has to accelerate steps for the required
changes, otherwise the document would lose
significance and Iraq would lose international
support, Osman pointed out.
He noted that the document would also render the US
Administration a service for the huge trouble the
Americans are facing in Iraq leading to intensive
efforts on the US both at home and abroad for a new
policy in Iraq.
The ICI Document, providing international support
would, lessen some of the pressures on the US, Osman
said
