Five Kurdish gang members attacked a 17-year-old
student today at Glencliff High School, causing the
school to be locked down for about 1½ hours while
police stabilized the situation, according to Metro
police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford.
The student was not badly injured but told school
officials that the gang members said they were going
to kill him.
Several school resource officers, as well as members
of the Metro police FLEX unit, were called to help
out during the lockdown.
One 17-year-old was taken to the Juvenile Criminal
Justice Center on an assault charge, according to
Mumford.
"The other suspects are being identified by
videotape, and we are looking for them," said
Mumford, who added that at least two of the five
gang members were not students at Glencliff.
No weapons were used in the attack, according to
Mumford.
