The selection board of the International Hamburg
Short Film Festival has accepted the Iranian Kurdish
film 'Ronak' directed by Houshang Mirza'i.
About 3800 films from various countries have been
submitted to the festival's secretariat.
'Ronak' tells the story of a blind old man,
Mohioddin Rahimi, who earns his living through
repairing electronic devices in the western Iranian
province of Kurdistan.
The festival is hosted by the Kurz Film Agentur
Hamburg from June 6 to 11. |

The 9th Mo and Friese Children's Short Film Festival
will also open for younger audiences from June 3 to
June 10 on the sidelines of the event.
Mirza'i's documentary 'I'm Abdolvahed Ismailpour'
previously won the Gold Award at the 39th WorldFest-Houston
Film Festival in the US last year.
Tentatively entitled 'Mine', the film is about a
Kurdish teenager who lost both of his eyes and his
hands in the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war and who reads
books in Braille.
