Newroz Festival Celebrated in Moscow

Kurdish Newroz ceremony was celebrated splendidly in
Moscow with attendance of the cultural experts,
ambassadors, and people of thecountries who share
this ancient tradition.
- Kurdish festival of Newroz was celebrated for the
second continual year in Moscow with presence of
people of Iran, Central Asian countries, Caucasus,
Turkey, Kurdistan, Afghanistan, India, Syria, and
Russia.
This ceremony was organized by effort of Moscow’s
Municipality with cooperation of cultural
representatives of the above mentioned countries in
Moscow’s permanent international fairground.
In addition to the citizens of these countries, a
number of ambassadors and cultural representatives
as well as the authorities of Moscow’s Municipality
attended this ceremony which was held on 24th of
March.
In this festival, traditional music groups from
Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan,
Kurdistan Turkey, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, as well
as Daghistan and Caucasus regions performed live
music which was greatly welcomed by attendees.
What made this festival more attractive was the
variety of traditional dresses different ethnic
groups wore in this ceremony.
In this festival the participant countries displayed
the special traditions which is practiced for
celebrating Newroz in their countries through
holding some traditional pavilions in which Newroz
table (Haftsin) as well as some folkloric cultures
and dresses were displayed.
The fact that Newroz tradition has its roots in
Persia and Iran is the origin of this historical
ceremony was the main topic of the festival which
attracted the admiration of all attendees.
'Newroz' is the
traditional Kurdish new year, The year 2007
corresponds to the Kurdish year 2619. All Kurds
around the world are celebrating the new year 'Newroz'.
The Kurdish calendar starts at 612 BC.
Newroz celebrated by arrival of spring in Iran,
Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Central Asian countries
such as Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan,
Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, as well as among Kurdish
people in Kurdistan (Iraq) and Kurdistan (Syria),
Kurdistan (Trkey) as well as Turkic people in
Pakistan, India, Northwestern China, the Caucasus,
and the Balkans.
