Kurdistan and Dubai exchange business ideas at
conference

Dubai, UAE, – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)
ministers today rounded up a conference held to
attract investment to Kurdistan and learn from the
United Arab Emirate’s economic transformation.
Over 500 companies from the US and the UAE, as well
as 157 companies and the chambers of commerce of
Kurdistan, attended the Kurdistan of Iraq–UAE
Business Exchange Conference.
The participants visited Dubai’s free trade areas
and learned about investment opportunities in
Kurdistan from the ministers for trade,
municipalities and planning, the chairman of the
investment board and the governors of the Kurdistan
Region’s provinces.
KRG officials and advisors described the need to
develop IT and telecoms, agri-business and food
processing, manufacturing, construction, banking and
other services, to transform the Kurdistan Region’s
economy and provide people with more job
opportunities.
Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Speaker of the UAE’s Federal
National Council, Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE
Minister for the Economy and Planning, and Hamad
Mubarak Buamim, Director-General of Dubai’s Chamber
of Commerce and Industry, also attended as
distinguished guests.
The conference was sponsored by the Kurdistan
Regional Government, the US Department of Commerce,
as well as several private companies.
