AMMAN, -- King Abdullah on Monday reiterated
Jordan’s support for efforts to enhance Iraqi
reconciliation.
The King told Massoud Barzani, President of
Kurdistan region (Iraq), at a Royal Court meeting
that Kurds “play an important role in backing Iraqi
security and stability as well as building a better
future” for the neighbouring country.
Highlighting “the historic relations” between Arabs
and Kurds, the Monarch called for enhancing these
ties to “meet the aspirations” of both sides.
King Abdullah said Jordan continued to support
Iraqis “at this stage to overcome their difficult
circumstances”.
He added that the Kingdom also seeks to help Iraq
“restore its vital regional and international role”.
On his part, Barzani reviewed development of
situation in Iraq and appreciated Abdullah's
assistance to Iraq, noting the Kurdish community's
keenness to reinforce relations with Jordan and all
Arab states in all fields. |
