March 20, 2007

AMMAN, -- King Abdullah on Monday reiterated Jordan’s support for efforts to enhance Iraqi reconciliation.

The King told Massoud Barzani, President of Kurdistan region (Iraq), at a Royal Court meeting that Kurds “play an important role in backing Iraqi security and stability as well as building a better future” for the neighbouring country.

Highlighting “the historic relations” between Arabs and Kurds, the Monarch called for enhancing these ties to “meet the aspirations” of both sides.

King Abdullah said Jordan continued to support Iraqis “at this stage to overcome their difficult circumstances”.

He added that the Kingdom also seeks to help Iraq “restore its vital regional and international role”.
