RIYADH,-- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip
Erdogan said late Tuesday that he does not have any
plans to hold talks with Iraq’s President Jalal
Talabani during the 19th Arab Heads of State Summit
being held in Riyadh but that a meeting could be
arranged.
Speaking ahead of his departure to Saudi Arabia,
Erdogan said he did not have an appointment to meet
Talabani.
“But if we have the opportunity, we will hold talks
with him,” he told a press conference at Ankara’s
Esenboga Airport. |

Erdogan said that he would hold talks with some of
the leaders attending the summit, including Lebanese
Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, Pakistani President
Pervez Musharraf and Javier Solana, the European
Union’s High Representative for the Common and
Foreign Security Policy.
“The summit will bring together leading members of
the international community and regional leaders at
a critical period in the Middle East,” Erdogan said.
“I will also have the chance of holding talks with
representatives of the United Nations and the EU. We
hope that the summit would lead to tangible results
that would contribute to peace and stability in the
region.”
