STATEMENT OF KURDISTAN
NATIONAL CONGRESS ON THE TURKISH CRIMINAL REGIME
REGARDING THE KILLING OF THE KURDS AND THE ARMENIANS
February 2, 2007
Turkey: after the
murder of
Armenian editor in chief, Hrant Dink
Constant Nationalist Baiting against Christian and
Kurdish people Cannot Be Awarded with EU- Membership
On the very same day when the Turkish parliament
discussed military aggression against the peaceful
Iraqi state of Kurdistan, one of the most famous
representatives of the Armenian people, Hrant Dink,
who was editor in chief of the Armenian newspaper “Agos”,
got killed. The army, the judiciary, the government
and large parts of the media spread an atmosphere of
constant national baiting against the Christian and
Kurdish peoples. |

A state that continuously pulls journalists,
scientists, teachers, but also citizens and human
rights activists in front of the courts if they
speak for legitimate rights of the Christian and
Kurdish people or if they incriminate crimes against
humanity which were committed by the Turkish state
in the past up today, cannot receive a place within
the EU. We therefore appeal to the 27 member states
of the EU to make the release of the about 2.000
political prisoners of Kurdish people and the
re-resettlement of two million Kurds that had been
displaced from 4.000 destroyed Kurdish villages an
absolute precondition for possibly making Turkey
become a member of the European Union.
But the fact is that the European approach during
the recent talks with the Turkish delegation was
very disappointing and even shocking for the Kurdish
people, because the European representatives didn't
mention the fate and the rights of 25 million Kurds
living in Turkey with one single word and in this
respect didn't make any demands to the Turkish
government.
This approach of your and other European governments
is very similar to the British appeasement policy
versus Nazi Germany during the agreement of Munich
in 1938 when Czechoslovakia was sacrificed to the
German aggressor, and Chamberlain's “peace in our
time” led directly to World War II.
No European government seems really to concern about
the fact that Erdogan's so highly praised reforms
exist on paper only up till now. We are deeply
afraid that Kurdish human and political rights might
be ignored in future, too, since at this critical
moment of decision even the mere words Kurds and
Kurdistan were not allowed to be mentioned, in order
to avoid Turkey to be offended by the mention of
these words.
This way the European Union will no longer be a
stronghold of human rights and liberty and equality
of nations. In contrary it will be conquered by the
Trojan horse of Kemalist Fascism.
As long as Turkey will not recognize its genocide
against the Armenians during the World War I, and
the existence of 25 million Kurds within her
frontiers and will not recognize the culture and the
human rights of these 25 million Kurds, there
shouldn't take place any negotiations about Turkey's
entry to the EU. And Turkey will be able to do that
only when there will be a new and really democratic
Turkish constitution, respecting human and political
rights of all nationalities living in Turkey, the
Kurds, Armenians, Laz, Arabs, Greeks and others.
Likewise the Turkish military has to be deprived of
all its political, economical and social power.
Because it is the military always defending Kemalism
and fighting Kurdish culture, language and national
rights.
As long as Europe is wearing a muzzle ordered by
Turkey and doesn't even dare to use the words Kurds
and Kurdistan or the Armenian genocide, Turkey's and
Europe's problems won't be solved, and they won't be
any better than the European representatives who
sacrificed Czechoslovakia to Hitler.
We are hoping very much, might share the Kurdish
worries about European policy with Turkey, and might
do much more in future to defend the human and
political rights of the Kurds and other nations in
Turkey.
Yours sincerely

The use of the term "Kurdistan" is vigorously
rejected due to its alleged political implications
by the Republic of Turkey, which does not recognize
the existence of a "Turkish Kurdistan"
Southeast Turkey. The Kurds have no rights in
Turkey.
Others estimate as many as 40 million Kurds live in
Big Kurdistan (Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Armenia),
which covers an area as big as France, about half of
all Kurds which estimate to 20 million live in
Turkey.
The Kurdish flag flown officially in Iraqi Kurdistan but
unofficially flown by Kurds in Armenia. The flag is
banned in Iran, Syria, and Turkey where flying it is
a criminal offence"

Armenian Genocide by Turkish Muslims against

Turkey faces international pressure to recognise
that more than 1 million Armenians were massacred
during a 1915 campaign of ethnic cleansing by
Ottoman Turks. Turkish officials claim that most
deaths were caused by hunger and disease.
