Nechirvan Barzani visits Dubai to strengthen
economic ties between the KRG and Dubai
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammed Rashid Al
Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of
Finance and Industry and Chairman of the Dubai World
Trade Centre (DWTC) welcomed Prime Minister
Nechirvan Barzani in Dubai on Tuesday.
At the meeting they discussed bilateral relations
between Dubai and the Kurdistan Region.
Prime Minister Barzani commended Dubai’s vast
economic progress and development and said he looked
forward to forming joint ventures between Dubai and
Kurdistan Region.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammed Rashid Al
Maktoum said he welcomed any steps towards
strengthening bilateral ties between Dubai and the
Kurdistan Region.
Obaid Hamid Al-Tayar, the Chief administrator at
Dubai Chamber of Commerce, and several other
officials were also present at the meeting.

New measures to enhance housing sector in
Kurdistan
(MENAFN) Kurdistan's Minister of Housing and
Reconstruction said that the ministry will take new
measures in order to attract more investments in the
housing sector in Kurdistan, Iraq Economy reported.
He indicated that the ministry will offer higher
loans for housing projects along with financial
grants for government employees who seek to build
their own homes.

Cornerstone of 1,000 residential units in Halabja
on March 16
Remembering the chemical attacks on Halabja on March
16, the founding stone of 1,000 residential units
will be laid in the city on its 19th anniversary
this year.
Halabja came under poison gas by Saddam Hussein's
brutal regime in 1988.
Every citizen of this city, who will be donated
$5,000, will also be given $5,000 in loans to be
able to purchase these units, which are to be built
by a number of different firms and constructon
companies.

Municipality Organization for Peace
The International Municipaity Organization for Peace
had 1999 city members from around the world, Halabja
became the city number 2000 to join the
Organization.
"Halabja Municipality suggested that it became a
member of the International Municipality
Organization for Peace," Halabja City Mayor Khidir
Karim told PUKmedia. "The organization held a
meeting in which its high committee decdided to
officially accept Halabja as its 2000th member." He
added that the organization contacted him to inform
him of their decision.
