200 Turkish Soldiers withdrew from Kurdistan
Region
On Wednesday, 200 Turkish soldiers withdrew from the
crossing border point- Ibrahim Khalil and redeployed
in Shirnakh and Silopi areas inside Turkey,
according to the Turkish news agencies.
Those forces were transferred by 7 buses and 6
military trucks, the agencies added.
The Turkish PMF forces have been deployed in Kani
Masi and Bamarne military airport areas in Kurdistan
region since 1997.
KRG PM briefs President Talabani about his
Meetings with Iraqi Leaders
The Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani received the KRG
PM, Nechirvan Barzani and his accompanying
delegation in Baghdad on Thursday.
KRG PM briefed President Talabani on his meetings
with the Iraqi PM, Nouri al-Maliki, the leaders of
the political groups and other related sides aiming
at dealing with the suspended issues between the
Iraqi Federal Government and the KRG.
Iraqi deputy PM, Barham Salih Ahmed, Dr. Fouad
Massum, head of the Kurdistan Coalition Block in the
Iraqi Council of Representatives were attended the
meeting. President Talabani emphasized on the
significance of these negotiations for the sake of
delivering and clarifying the stance of Kurdistan
people towards its legitimate demands, hoping these
efforts being successful and the relations between
the Iraqi federal government and KRG being promoted.
Erbil Football Team participates in 4th Thailand
King’s Cup
As an Iraqi football Club Team, the Erbil Club
Football Team will take part in the 4th Thailand
King’s Cup. In this purpose, the qualified Erbil
football team players were revealed for the
tournament due to kick off on December, 22nd, 2007
in Bangkok. “We are going to fly to Jordan;
thereafter we will head to Thailand.” The Media
Chief of Erbil Club said.
Dutch Celebrities donate Money for Kurdish
Refugees
During the Dutch Music Gala that took place in
Amsterdam’s famous theatre ‘Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ’
last week, Dutch celebrities donated an amount of
approximately €180.000 for the music projects in the
Middle-East, a part of the amount will go to
projects in Kurdistan.
Thanks by the famous Kurdish singer Chopy Fatah a
Dutch delegation visited Kurdistan in the end of
2006 and decided to
place two Kurdish projects for the children of the
Kurdish refugees in the cities of Kirkuk and
Khanaqin.
The intent is to realize the following projects:
-Assessing the possible damage due to many wars and
a period of economic sanctions.
-Development of music education to the
refugee-children in the cities of Kirkuk and
Khanaqin.
-Preserving traditional musical instruments and
documenting and preserving the art of their
manufacturing.
-Documenting the history of the great Kurdish urban
music traditions.
The organizers of the Music Gala believe that music
can be used to express both cultural and regional
identities. Applied to education it stimulates
creativity and self-expression for children and
adults. It could potentially be used as a
therapeutic tool to relieve stress and boost
self-confidence.
Famous Dutch artists, singers and TV reporters
attended the Music Gala in Amsterdam. Also
politicians participated in the Music Gala, like the
Coordinator of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)
in the Netherlands: Mamo Baram, the Palestinian
Ambassador in The Hague, the Head of the Middle-East
department in the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and the First secretary of the Iraqi Embassy in the
Netherlands. Furthermore a Dutch cultural delegation
will travel in the spring of 2008 to the Kurdish
region where they will visit the Kurdish cities of
Kirkuk, Khanaqin and Halabja.Similar projects have
been done before by helping the Palestinian refugees
living in refugee camps of Lebanon, Syria and
Jordan.
“After Half Century” records Mr. Talabani’s
Memories and His Political Activities
Erfan Qaniee, who has been engaging in writing a
book on Jalal Talabani and the Kurdish contemporary
history, said “The writing process of this book is
finished and it’s expected to be printed and
published in English and Persian by one f the
American universities in 2008, and later it will be
translated into Kurdish, Arabic and French. The
book, which is tilted as “After Half Century”,
illustrates the hardship of Kurdish history in Iraq
with political biography and activities of Mr. Jalal
Talabani from 1933 up to 2007.
“This book is an academic historical research in
which 400 persons were interviewed regarding Mr.
Jalal Talabani and Kurdish contemporary history. It
narrates Talabani’s memories and his role in Kurdish
contemporary history in Iraq. Talabani, who has been
definitely recorded in world contemporary history
archives, is an outstanding character.” Mr. Erfan
added.
President of Kurdistan received Delegation from
Kurdistan Political Parties Assembly
On Wednesday, President of Kurdistan Region, Massoud
Barzani, received the delegation from Kurdistan
Political Parties Assembly whom already paid a visit
to the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the meeting,
the delegation briefed their visit’s conclusions
with the Iranian high officials and expressed their
optimistic view about the Kurdistan region’s
relation with Iran which has been recently
progressed.
In Memory of Great Kurdish Poet, Peramerd,
Special Ceremony held in Sulaimaniyah
On Wednesday, a ceremony was held at the
Sulaimaniyah Public Library for the Kurdish poet,
Peramerd. It was attended by a number of KRG
officials and political representatives, including
the KRG Culture Minister, Falakadin Kakayee, and
Chief of PUK Central Media Office, Azad Jundiani.
The Sulaimaniyah Governor and Culture Minister
presented speeches in which both referred Peramerd’s
vital role in promoting
the Kurdish intellectual and journalist fields.
“Peramerd is unselfish and simple poet. He paid a
great service to the Kurdish journalism. We are all
indebted to him. It’s planned to re-print all his
works, either printed or imprinted, in a modern
style.” The KRG Culture Minister said. The ceremony
will be continuing for the next two days.
Official Website of KNA launched
In a special ceremony attended by some of Kurdish
PMs, The official website of Kurdistan National
Assembly was clicked on for the first time by the
Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Adnan Mufti.
“We hope that this website is further able to convey
our voices and activities to people.” The Speaker
said during presenting a speech on that occasion.
Later, he hoped that one day a special TV channel
for the Assembly will be launched to broadcast their
activities live to people to be aware of them.
